Wahkiakum man detained for threatening president

December 4, 2013

The Wahkiakum County Sheriff’s Office recently passed on a tip to the FBI and Secret Service after learning about a Wahkiakum County resident who was using Facebook to relay increasingly violent threats to the President of the United States.

According to Sheriff Mark Howie, who called the man a “ticking time bomb”, the young man’s Facebook timeline showed an escalation of violent rhetoric over the last 11 months. He appeared to be very angry, sharing disturbing thoughts and fantasies, and using language frequently attributed to White Supremacists.

Howie said the young man posted pictures of semi-automatic weapons on his page and alluded to bomb making skills, claiming that he had sold one and that he was willing to make more. He threatened to kill cops if they came to his home. He threatened to kill the president and he threatened to bomb the White House. At one time he is reported to have said, “I want to go out with respect.”

The FBI and Secret Service followed up on the tip and the individual was located in Clark County and taken into custody.
