Wahkiakum Track and Field

 


In Wahkiakum Mule Track and Field action this past week, sophomore Gunnar Blix traveled to Spokane Valley to compete in the 2014 Strandberg at Central High School. He took ninth in the shot put with a throw of 46’1” and 13th in the discus event with a throw of 119’11”.

On Tuesday, the Mules traveled to Ilwaco to compete against five other teams in the Pacific County Invite. The boys came in sixth place with 31 points and the girls placed fourth with 56 points.

Nevan Bingham took fifth place in the 100 meters with a time of 11.90 and third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.40. Austin Burns placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 24.30. Carl Kolditz placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.30. The 4x100 team of Bingham, Ryan Quigley, Burns and Kolditz placed fourth with a time of 48.54.

Jesús Crawford placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 97’8”. Quigley cleared 5’8” in the high jump and took third.

For the girls, Grace Peacock ran the 100 meters in 13.34 and placed third. Tyra Elliott took fourth place with a time of 13.78. Peacock placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 29.30, and Cheyenne Barton took fourth with a time of 30.60.

Shona Heywood placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:10.10. Shelbie Abbot took fifth in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the 300 meter hurdles with times of 18.9 and 58.3 respectively.

The 4x100 relay team of Peacock, Elliott, Rory Heywood and Barton took fourth with a time of 55.52 and the 4x200 team of Barton, Shona Heywood, Elliott and Peacock placed second with a time of 1:56.40.

Rory Heywood took fourth in the high jump, clearing 4’6”.

The Mule track team travels to Ridgefield on Friday to compete in the Spudder Track and Field Classic.
