Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 11 – 9:12 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a woman with a broken leg in Skamokawa. 9:23 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported computer fraud by people posing as Microsoft employees. 9:34 a.m. A man visiting a Puget Island beach reported that he caught juveniles going through his things. 10 a.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about neighbors being noisy at night. 10:06 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that inebriated people had been outside his home all night, causing a disturbance. 10:26 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported an assault. 12:32 p.m. A deputy responded to the report of animal neglect on Puget Island. 12:41 p.m. The sons of a recently deceased individual reported being denied access to his home and property by the landlord; the caller was advised that this was a civil matter. 12:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of a fall at a Skamokawa home. 1:35 p.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a motorcycle accident on SR 4 just west of Skamokawa. 3:42 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Cathlamet resident who hadn’t been seen in a couple days; a deputy made contact with the individual and all was well. 5:44 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Skamokawa resident who had threatened to harm himself; a deputy spoke with him and determined that there was no danger at present. 7:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Cathlamet woman. 7:35 p.m. A Westend resident was frightened after her adult son had become increasingly angry and hostile; a deputy responded and spoke with both of them. The deputy referred someone from mental health. 10:42 p.m. Three juveniles were seen knocking things off of a fence at a Rosedale business.

August 12 – 7:15 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Puget Island residence. 7:26 a.m. A woman reported that her current boyfriend had hit her ex-boyfriend; deputies made contact. 9:20 a.m. Deputies responded to the report of a one-car accident on Puget Island; there were no injuries, but a minor was taken into custody for disorderly behavior and obstruction. 10:11 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in the Elochoman Valley. 12:19 p.m. A caller reported the destruction of property at the Cathlamet marina.

August 13 – 1:20 a.m. A caller reported that the power was out in several places; the PUD responded and restored power. 3:37 a.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River resident who was ill and having difficulty breathing. 10:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley resident with diabetic problems. 1:41 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been sitting alongside the road in the Elochoman Valley for a couple days. 1:57 p.m. A caller reported that Hancock Timber would be setting off explosives in the Brookfied area. 3:29 p.m. A woman requested a civil standby while she collected her son’s possessions from her former husband. 4:49 p.m. A caller reported seeing smoke in the Elochoman Valley area. 5:35 p.m. A caller reported that juveniles were jumping off the bridge in Skamokawa. 7:12 p.m. An injured animal was seen walking on a Puget Island road. 10:07 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that an inebriated male was refusing to leave; the caller was uncooperative and investigation revealed that both had been drinking.

August 14 – 9:06 a.m. A dog had bitten a Cathlamet youth and his parent requested contact with a deputy. 12:24 p.m. A welfare check was requested for children in the Elochoman Valley. 1:51 p.m. An alarm was activated at an ATM in Cathlamet. 5:23 p.m. Deputies and the Skamokawa Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in Skamokawa. 6:52 p.m. A tree had fallen into the roadway in the Rosburg area. 7:46 p.m. A car was seen alongside the road with the hazard lights on in the Elochoman Valley. 11:46 p.m. Three hours of off and on barking from neighbor’s dogs had disturbed the sleep of a Rosedale man and his guests.

August 15 – A Rosedale resident reported a missing dog. 4:17 p.m. A caller reported a one-vehicle non-injury accident in the Rosburg area; Washington State Patrol was on scene. 4:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen and may have broken a hip. 4:41 p.m. A deputy responded to the earlier report of a one-vehicle non-injury accident in the Rosburg area after WSP was called away. 5:39 p.m. A vehicle was reported to be partially blocking the eastbound lane of SR 4 near Nassa Point. 6:29 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the fairgrounds in Skamokawa after a horse collapsed and its rider sustained leg, back, and tailbone injuries. 8:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 9:42 p.m. A man was seen sleeping by the city dock. 10:37 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business; the owner was notified.

August 16 – 7:48 a.m. A caller reported that a fisherman had blocked one lane of the roadway at a Deep River boat launch and that multiple trucks and trailers were blocking traffic; a deputy and representative from the Department of Fish and Wildlife responded. 2:11 p.m. A caller reported that two vehicles were racing on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 4:31 p.m. A motorist reported seeing a man driving erratically on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area; the caller said the driver had his eyes closed and a tube coming out of his mouth. 6:01 p.m. Deputies and the Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report of a brush pile being burned during a burn ban; the homeowner extinguished the fire. 10:12 p.m. A caller reported that a driver who had pulled off the road and gotten out of his vehicle was delaying traffic just east of KM. 10:20 p.m. A Rosedale resident complained about dogs that had been barking until 2 a.m. for three nights in a row.

August 17 – 1:30 p.m. An individual threatened to kill a parent at a local shelter. 1:51 p.m. Deputies and the Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report of a burn. 5:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Puget Island resident who was having difficulty breathing. 6:42 p.m. An erratically driven vehicle was seen heading east on SR 4. 7:48 p.m. A motorist reported that a driver heading west on SR 4 was making improper lane changes and driving erratically. 8:01 p.m. Deputies and District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a campfire; the campers were notified of the burn ban. 8:42 p.m. A Deep River resident reported the theft of metal parts.
