Stella historians holding celebration

August 28, 2014

Members of the Stella Historical Society will hold their annual Remnants of the Past celebration on September 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The all-volunteer society furnishes and maintains buildings which display historical items relating to the settlement of Stella and the surrounding area. The buildings display items ranging from old-time logging and farming tools to early settlers' clothes and personal items.

On September 6, the society will hold a fund-raising celebration. At the museum complex just off SR 4, 10 miles west of Longview, there will be blacksmithing demonstrations and self-guilded, hands-on museum tours. Society members will be on hand to add details.

Two miles up Germany Creek Road at Stella Lutheran Chapel, there will be more displays of historical pictures and artifacts. There will also be demonstrations of china painting, food preserving, soap and candle making, duck decoy carving, and food, plants and flowers, and craft and hand-made items will be on sale.

Visitors may also tour a farm.

All locations are handicapped accessible.
