What's happening at the Fair?

August 28, 2014

WOW! The fair has been here and gone, I hope everyone who attended had a good time. I heard the kids had a lot of fun walking on the water in the balls. It looked fun. Thank you to all the vendors who were at the fair this year; hope to see you all back next year.

Congratulations to Abbie Eaton for being crowned the 2014 Wahkiakum County Fair Queen. A huge thank you to this year’s fair royalty. The six young ladies earned a grand total of over $9000. All of these funds will go back into the fair. Also a huge thank you to everyone who supported them, without your support and their hard work this would not happen.

As most people know the State Fair Commissioner was here. When they visit the fair they give an area or a person, exhibit, etc., a special ribbon. A huge congratulations to Carol Ervest and Amber Eaton of the Youth Building for receiving this award.

To all my volunteers: You are all awesome and I thank you from the bottom of my heart; without all of you the Fair would not be a success. Thank you for all your hard work and long hours.

A special thank you to Becky Thacker for once again doing the gates, that is a huge job and you are awesome at it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Well now that fair is over keep an eye out on what will be happening at the fair grounds. There is some talk about a flea market once a month and maybe a Halloween Carnival. Watch the column for more information on these events. Don't forget in November we will be having Turkey Bingo.
