Mochas & More coffee stand at the corner of SR 4 and 401 in Naselle is still accepting donations, in an effort to send all of the EMS volunteers and a guest out for a nice dinner, in appreciation for all their efforts. You can leave a donation at Mochas & More, at the Bank of the Pacific, at Okie's or at the Hardware store. The goal is getting closer, thanks to your generosity.

Last week the Valley Bible Preschool classes visited the Grays River Fire Hall for an informative and hands on field trip. They learned safety tips and had the opportunity to talk with the fire fighters and sit on the fire truck.

Westend news:

Put on your costumes and join in the annual Halloween celebration in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. The creepy old Rosburg School will be ready for trick-or-treaters at 5 p.m. with free hot dogs and punch, and will be showing cartoons and a (not too) spooky movie on the big screen in the cafeteria. The event takes place on Friday. Enter the building from the west end and the kids can knock on all the decorated doors inside the building and get their treats from costumed characters. This event will take place rain or shine, no problem, it's all inside.

If you would like to donate candy for this event, or volunteer to help out please contact Trudy Fredrickson at 465-2960 or email trudydownriver@yahoo.com. We look forward to another successful, safe and fun Halloween celebration.

The Rosburg Community Club's annual Holiday Bazaar and chicken luncheon will take place this weekend on Saturday, November 1st from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You might still be able to rent a space to sell your items by calling Barbara Rose at 465-2234.

There is always a huge variety of items for sale at this event and it's the perfect time to shop local and begin filling out your Christmas list.

Enjoy the chicken luncheon provided by the Rosberg Community Club while you are there. It's always delicious. The proceeds from this fundraising event are used for maintenance of the building, and all the other generous things that this group does in our community. The Rosburg Community Club meets every other month and there are no dues to join. For more information, you can contact Barbara Rose or Sonja Kruse.

"Living Well in Wahkiakum" will take place November 5th in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. This second annual event is sponsored by the Wahkiakum County Health and Human Services and the hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many service organizations will join together to bring you and your family a variety of community resources for all your needs. There will be information booths, presentations, individual signups, as well as details of how to prepare for your retirement years, Medicare, Medicaid and much more. A light lunch will also be available.

To sign up as a vendor or for more information please contact Terrie Howell, Wahkiakum Community Outreach at 360 795-8630 press option 2.

Here's another opportunity to give a life saving donation of blood on November 6 at the Valley Bible Church, located at 4723 SR 4 West in Rosburg between 1 and 6 p.m. For more information please call Susan Burkhalter at 465-2264.

The American Legion Post 111 in Deep River will be serving their annual Fall breakfast on November 8, 8-11:30 a.m. Tickets will be sold at the door, $5 for adults and $3 for children 6 and under. Pancakes, eggs (the way you like them), sausage or ham, juice, coffee, etc. Always delicious food and served to you with a smile.

Raffle tickets will also be sold for a Husqvarna 270 rifle. Sounds like another good reason to go for breakfast.

Our Westend Food Pantry is in need of a donated freezer. They hope to be open soon and are collecting lots of items, including frozen foods that must be kept frozen. If you have a working freezer and would like to donate it to this good cause please call Joel Fitts at 360-465-2629.

They are also in need of personal hygiene items, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, cleaning supplies, etc. Here's another great way to give back to our neighbors.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets each week at the Rosburg Hall for a home cooked meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew. Lunch is served at noon.

On Thursdays a senior meal is also served at the above location and is sponsored by CAP.

Happy Birthday to the following: Lindsay Littau, Jeff Eaton, K. J. Knightly-Baker, Kevin McNulty, Joel Forbes, Lorna Batt, Norm Penttila, Angela Helvey, Gwen Snyder, Roy Herrold and Linda Nelson.
