Michael Lee Howell

Cathlamet resident Michael (Mike) Lee Howell, 51, lost his life riding as a passenger involved in a tragic automobile accident on WA State Route 4 west of Longview, WA on September 23, 2014.

Mike was born to Michael and Elaine (Schuller) Howell on February 16, 1963 in Lancaster, California. As a young boy, his family moved to Washington State eventually settling in the Maple Valley/Kent area.

Mike married his high school sweetheart, Stephanie Pope on December 22, 1984. Together they had four children. They divorced on December 23, 1999. Mike married Rebecca O’Crotty on July 22, 2006. He spent most of his adult life in and around Enumclaw, WA until January of this year, when he and his wife Rebecca moved to Cathlamet, WA.

Mike was naturally artistic and captured many of the things he loved in oil paintings and drawings. He was also musically talented. He played the guitar and wrote his own music. He was a carpenter and a craftsman, enjoying woodworking of all kinds from home construction to cabinet making. Mike was smart and witty, had great hair and wore a smile most of the time. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife Rebecca Howell of Enumclaw, Mike is survived by his parents Michael Howell (Kim) of Cathlamet and Elaine Ornelaz (Sal) of Tacoma; three daughters Nicolette Holland (Matthew) of Maple Valley, Madaline and Emily Howell and son Samuel Howell all of Kent; stepson Sean O’Crotty of Enumclaw; 3 grandchildren, 5 siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Funeral and Cremation Care of Vancouver, WA. A memorial gathering will be held December 7, 2014 from 12 to 3 pm at the Green River Eagles #1490, 32618 Railroad Avenue, Black Diamond, WA.
