Well you can stop in at the same location (301 Knappton Rd.) on Friday, the 21st from 3-7 p.m. for a Holiday Open House and get to know the new folks. It is now called Hoff Brothers Enterprises and they will host this event with live music from Brian O’Connor, hors deurves, cocktail recipe cards, a gift basket drawing and discounts of beer and wine for the holiday table or for gift giving. The Appelo Archives Center held their champagne harvest dinner and fundraiser at the Grays River Valley Center last Saturday evening. Set in the building where many of the attendees went to school in years past, made for lots of reminiscing as well and gracious comments to the community for bringing the building back to life for the enjoyment of others. It was a wonderful evening of delicious food catered by GRVC chef Steve Ramsay and his wife, Linda, great music, fantastic auction items and speakers. Thanks to Carlton Appelo and his family for being the catalyst of such a historical undertaking as the Archive Center. I think it was very appropriate to choose the old school building in Rosburg to help celebrate. Hope to see you next year.

How do you celebrate Thanksgiving Day? With family at home, or do you prefer to go out? Personally, it is my favorite holiday of the year. It reminds me that no matter what we go through in our own lives, there are always others who have to go through more and rougher times so we should be thankful for every minute, every day, every year that we have here on earth. We need to be thankful for the families we have and their love, our friends, and our health. Remember too, all of those things can be gone in the blink of an eye, so relish in every moment and live it to the fullest. It’s a hard lesson but I’m learning not to take things or people for granted. Happy Thanksgiving to all the readers, the Eagle staff and their families.
