William J. Pratt

Naselle resident William J. “Bill” Pratt, 82, died in Astoria on November 2, 2014. A native of Govan, Saskatchewan, Canada, he was born there on November 10, 1931, the son of James and Vera Pratt. Bill grew up in Canada where he received his education.

In 1961 Bill came to the U.S. as a permanent resident. He worked construction throughout the western U.S. as an electrical lineman. In 1975 he met Diane Heiner in Naselle and they soon became a couple. They married September 11, 1982 and were seldom apart thereafter. Bill continued working as a lineman until retirement and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 125 of Portland.

Bill is survived by his wife Diane of Naselle whom he always referred to as “Lovey”; stepsons Scott Heiner, Dale Heiner, Douglas Heiner and David Heiner; brother Orville Pratt; sister Joy Anderson; brother-in-law Chuck Hill; eight step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 28, at 11 a.m., at the Assembly of God Church in Naselle. A reception follows at the church. A private family graveside service will be held at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle. The family requests memorials to the Naselle Fire and Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 54, Naselle, WA 98638.
