Westend news:

The West End Food Pantry is a new food distribution center located in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park (Former Rosburg School) in Rosburg. Regular distribution hours will be Thursdays, 1-5 p.m. or later by appointment. They will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Their official opening date is on December 4, and every Thursday except Christmas Day.

Stop by or call Shonda at 465-2722 or Suzie at 465-2312 for information or find us on Facebook: West End Food Pantry.

The free Friday Night Movie in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park is based on a true story, and it follows JB Bernstein, a once-successful sports agent in a quest to find the next baseball pitching sensation. Setting off for Mumbai with nothing but a gifted but cantankerous scout in tow, JB stages a televised, nationwide competition called "Million Dollar Arm" where 40,000 hopefuls compete before two 18-year-old finalists, Rinku and Dinesh, emerge as winners. JB brings them back to the United States to train with legendary pitching coach Tom House. The goal is to get the boys signed to a major league team. Not only is the game itself difficult to master, but life in the U.S. with a committed bachelor makes things even more complicated-for all of them. While Rinku and Dinesh learn the finer points of baseball and American culture, they in turn teach JB the true meaning of teamwork and commitment. Ultimately, what began as a purely commercial venture becomes something more and leads JB to find the one thing he was never looking for at all--a family.

Concessions are also available with popcorn, candy and pop. Watch a good movie on our big screen and enjoy a relaxing evening. The show starts at 7 p.m.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets each week at the Rosburg Hall for a lunch prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteers. This group is growing and many times she has 30 to 50 attendees. If you are wondering what your neighbors are doing for lunch on Wednesdays, check out this group. Thanks to Pat, this is a great place to socialize and enjoy a good meal.

On Thursdays a senior meal is also available in the same friendly atmosphere of the Hall and is sponsored by CAP.
