January 1, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 22 — 9:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with back pain. 11:04 a.m. A resident reported fraudulent activity. 12:05 p.m. A caller reported that a leaning tree was partially blocking a Puget Island road. The county road crew was notified. 12:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a weak and elderly Cathlamet resident. 12:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who had abdominal pain. 8:59 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had struck an elk on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. A deputy dispatched the animal.

December 23 — 11:47 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle speeding in Cathlamet. 2:25 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported trespassers. 2:27 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone had broken into his home and stolen several items. 3:21 p.m. A caller reported a runaway. Investigation revealed that the subject was an adult who did not appear to be in danger. 5:01 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of an explosion and flames at a Rosedale residence. It was a false alarm.

December 24 — 1:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who was nauseated and dizzy. 2:17 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Rosburg resident who was having heart issues. 3:23 p.m. A caller reported rocks in the eastbound lane of SR 4 near Nassa Point. 4:34 p.m. One person was taken into custody after a pursuit on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 4:38 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that they had not been paid after the delivery of a horse. A deputy advised the caller that it was a civil issue. 5:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a person at County Line Park who had an allergic reaction to food.

December 25 — 1:31 p.m. A caller reported speeding vehicles on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area.

December 26 — 11:30 a.m. A caller reported a deceased deer in a ditch on Puget Island. 7:57 p.m. A caller reported that his car had hit a deer near Rosburg, that there was no damage to his vehicle and the deer had disappeared.

December 27 — 12:27 a.m. A Deep River resident reported harassment. 4:46 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported hearing a high pitched whine and siren coming from the island. 6:09 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island residence. The homeowner was contacted. 12:49 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about a neighbor running a hose from their home without permission. 3:42 p.m. County property was reported stolen in the Elochoman Valley. The property was located and it was discovered that it had not been stolen, it had been moved. 5:24 p.m. A woman with a gun was making suicidal threats at County Line Park. A deputy responded and the mental health department was notified. The subject’s boyfriend was able to secure the weapon and the two headed to Cowlitz County. 6:37 p.m. A caller reported that she was being harassed by several people on Facebook. 8:30 p.m. A power outage was reported at an Elochoman Valley residence. 9:24 p.m. A caller whose vehicle was disabled on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area requested that dispatch contact her son. He was notified and en route.

December 28 — 1:54 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. An attempt was made to contact the homeowner. 11:23 a.m. A caller reported seeing unknown individuals taking items from a Rosedale residence. It turned out the individuals had been authorized by the estate’s executor to remove the items. 5:33 p.m. A caller reported that a group of kids had attempted to gain entrance to a secured building in Cathlamet. A deputy patrolled the area and was unable to locate the group. 8:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident. 9:49 p.m. One person was taken into custody after a vehicle stop in Cathlamet.
