January 22, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 12 — 1:37 p.m. A caller reported a possible slide in the Skamokawa area; the County Road department was notified. 3:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who had accidentally taken too much medication.

January 13 — 12:04 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported seeing a suspicious man enter a neighbor’s yard. 12:52 p.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance, the District 4 Fire Department, and the PUD responded when a semi hit a power pole near County Line Park. 12:59 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a phone scam. 3:55 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported being threatened. One was taken into custody. 3:56 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a possible violation of a protection order. 4:38 p.m. A door was found unlocked at what should have been a secured public space in Cathlamet. 5:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident after an alarm was activated at the home. The resident could not be located. 6:32 p.m. A man at a Puget Island residence was reported to be disturbed and carrying a knife. He was taken into custody. 7:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an alarm at a Cathlamet address. 7:52 The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a sewer issue in the Skamokawa area. 9:55 p.m. A caller reported a huge boulder, the size of a van, in the middle of a road in the Rosburg area.

January 14 — 11:31 a.m. Logging equipment and cameras were stolen in Skamokawa. 12:57 p.m. A caller reported a hit and run in the Post Office parking lot in Cathlamet. 5:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Puget Island resident with back pain. 6:22 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported two missing dogs.

January 15 — 9:19 a.m. A welfare check was requested. 11:06 a.m. A basement door was found open at a Cathlamet address. 1:59 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that her landlord had broken into her home and taken several items. 6:02 p.m. Someone threatened to kill a former employee via text messages. 6:24 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a power outage. The PUD was notified and en route. Power was restored within the hour.

January 16 — 2:44 a.m. A caller reported a large tree branch blocking eastbound traffic on SR 4 near County Line Park. 6:47 a.m. A caller reported that several trees were down on Beaver Creek Road. County Roads was notified. 11:10 a.m. A caller reported finding a gate to his back yard open in Cathlamet. 12:21 p.m. A caller complained about logging debris on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. The landowner was contacted and he said he would speak to his contractor about cleanup. 5:38 p.m. A Bank of the Pacific employee notified the sheriff’s office that workers would be in the bank all weekend, renovating. 5:43 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a possible case of animal neglect. 5:56 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to aid a Grays River resident who may have had a stroke. 6:59 p.m. A caller reported being charged at by a pit bull in Cathlamet. 8:42 p.m. Deputies, the Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department responded to a two injury, one vehicle accident in Deep River. LifeFlight was notified and en route. 11:41 p.m. A caller reported finding his tires missing and his car on blocks at the high school in Cathlamet.

January 17 — 12:38 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Cathlamet address where an intoxicated individual had reportedly fallen and injured her arm. When they arrived, no one was there. 1:48 a.m. An intoxicated man violated a protection order and pulled a knife at a residence on Puget Island. One was taken into custody. 3:29 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of someone screaming for an ambulance in Cathlamet. The resident was being taken care of by family and did not need assistance. 9:01 a.m. Child Protective Services requested a welfare check on a child on Puget Island. 9:41 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who had high blood pressure and a high heart rate.

January 18 — 9:29 a.m. A caller reported trees and rocks on a Rosburg roadway. 12:31 p.m. A Cathlamet resident found a pit bull and was looking for his owner. 1:32 p.m. CPS requested a welfare check on a Puget Island resident. 5:57 p.m. A small dog was found and attempts were being made to locate its owner.

January 19 — 8:55 a.m. A caller reported seeing two dogs running on SR 4. 9:01 a.m. A burglary was reported at an unoccupied Puget Island residence. 10:04 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the area.
