Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

February 10 — 10:19 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a neighbor’s horses had gotten loose after a gate had been left open. 10:52 a.m. A caller reported that cows were loose in the Skamokawa area. 10:58 a.m. A caller reported animal neglect on Puget Island. 2:31 p.m. A caller reported an unoccupied boat floating down the Columbia River. 3:17 p.m. Deputies, the Grays River Fire Department and the Grays River ambulance responded to the report of a fire in Rosburg. 3:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a man who had fallen in Cathlamet.

February 11 — 9:26 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that an animal had been stolen. 9:54 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a fraudulent email. 3:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Rosedale resident who had fallen. 6:29 p.m. A caller reported a possible theft in Cathlamet. 6:57 p.m. A caller reported finding a puppy in the Elochoman Valley. 7:18 p.m. A caller reported being bitten by an Elochoman Valley resident’s dog.

February 12 — 11:53 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who was having trouble breathing. 1:03 p.m. Child Protective Services requested a welfare check on a child in Cathlamet. A deputy made contact with the child and the child’s school principal. 2:14 p.m. A caller reported a derelict vehicle in Cathlamet. 5:52 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of vehicle in Cathlamet. 10:03 p.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle on KM Mountain.

February 13 — 1:08 a.m. A Rosedale resident was concerned after hearing sounds of water behind her house. 2:06 p.m. A caller reported an attempted identity theft. 2:19 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had passed a school bus on Puget Island while children were exiting. 3:12 p.m. A caller reported the theft of clothing and laundry in Cathlamet. 5:16 p.m. An individual with a warrant surrendered himself to the sheriff’s department. 5:55 p.m. The US Coast Guard requested assistance from the sheriff’s department’s K-9 unit to search a vessel that had been seized. 7:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an elderly Puget Island resident with pneumonia.

February 14 — 4:24 a.m. A caller reported that someone was driving recklessly around the parking lot at County Line Park. The caller reported that there were four to five people involved and that they had stopped at his residence and pounded on his door. 9:09 a.m. A caller reported a sick elk. 1:07 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that he was concerned that an unwanted individual was coming to his home. 1:45 p.m. A motorist reported hitting a deer on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 3:48 p.m. A Puget Island resident found five dogs in the swamp on his property. 6:26 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle that had been sitting on the side of SR 4 in the Grays River area for several hours. 6:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an ailing, elderly Elochoman Valley resident. 6:51 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported harassment over ongoing trespassing complaints. 8:51 p.m. A caller reported hitting a spotted owl in the Rosedale area.

February 15 — 7:16 a.m. A caller reported that he was trapped in a yurt at the marina after the lock broke. The staff at the marina were alerted. 3:23 p.m. A landlord reported that renters in Cathlamet had left a lot of garbage in the shed on the property, a space that had not been included in the rental agreement. 5:50 p.m. A caller reported a horse on Puget Island that appeared to be underfed. A deputy checked on the horse in the evening and would check again when there was better light. 9:58 p.m. A wallet was found on the Puget Island bridge.
