Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

February 16 — 3:50 p.m. Deputies responded to the report of an erratic driver near Flandersville. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to give the driver a blood sugar test. 3:55 p.m. A caller reported that two vehicles had struck a deer on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 3:55 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a missing dog. 5:06 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a group of juveniles were riding ATVs unsafely. 6:35 p.m. A caller reported hitting a deer on Main Street in Cathlamet. 6:36 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an inmate who had fallen at the jail in Cathlamet.

February 17 — 10:36 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley resident who was having a seizure. 1:03 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 1:13 p.m. A fire alarm was activated in Grays River. It was being tested. 9:06 p.m. An inmate asked to speak to a deputy about a vehicle theft. He was advised that it was a civil matter. 9:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the middle school in Cathlamet to aid a student who was having an asthma attack.

February 18 — 1:30 a.m. An individual was taken into custody after assaulting his girlfriend. 3:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the jail to assist someone who was having chest pain. 10:14 a.m. Two women reported being threatened by a man in the Elochoman Valley. 3:26 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident who was having abdominal pain. 4:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Cathlamet resident with heart issues. 11:47 p.m. A caller complained about the smell of plastic burning in the Elochoman Valley.

February 19 — 4:32 a.m. A caller on Puget Island reported that she was taking in some rescue horses in case anyone called about how emaciated the horses were. 11:34 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a stolen vehicle. 12:06 p.m. A person was taken into custody on Puget Island for violating a no contact order. 8:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance, District 4 Fire Department and the PUD responded to a chimney fire in the Elochoman Valley.

February 20 — 1:26 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid an Elochoman Valley resident who had fallen. 2:08 p.m. A student at a Cathlamet school was reported to be out of control. A parent was notified.

February 21 — 4:07 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale residence. The homeowner gave the all clear. 5:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to aid a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 7:53 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a vehicle had been stolen. 11:51 p.m. A Rosedale resident saw a suspicious man enter the yard, possibly to steal a bicycle. The man was surprised by the homeowner’s dog and jumped over the fence. 11:59 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a burglary. 5:41 p.m. A caller reported finding a large gas can with a knife sticking out of it. 5:46 p.m. A caller reported seeing a boat tipped over in the Columbia River. The Coast Guard was notified, and a deputy responded.

February 22 — 6:26 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that her power was out and that she had heard a strange noise. Investigation revealed that there had been a blowout at a nearby power pole.
