Fund raising luncheon scheduled for Saturday

Down River Dispatches

February 26, 2015

Don’t forget that this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is your chance to enjoy the hearty beef stew, cheesy bread, beverages and incredible home made desserts at the Grays River United Methodist Church. This fundraiser is sponsored by the ladies of the Friendship Circle. The meal is by donation. You are also invited to purchase items at the bake sale and new and re-purposed items that are also for sale.

Takeout meals are also available, and you can call ahead on the day of the event at 360 465-2391. The church is located on State Route 4 near milepost 18, on the hill above the Grays River Café. For information on the event, phone 360-484-7749.

A Community In-Door Super Sale in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park will be held on March 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It looks like it will be a full house with tables of items for sale thoughout the entire building. Please call Cheryl Dutcher at 360 465-2740 for all the details, and do it soon as the spaces are nearly sold out.

The cost of a table is just $10, and the proceeds from this fund-raiser for the Center will be used for ongoing operating costs for the building and grounds.

There will be hot dogs and hamburgers for sale during the sale hours in the cafeteria and they will be provided by GRVC. Bake sale items will also be available in the cafeteria and will be provided by the Friendship Circle of the Grays River United Methodist Church. We look forward to another successful sale.

The 3rd Annual Spaghetti Feed fundraiser for GRVC at Johnson Park will be held on Saturday, March 21, serving 5-8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from Johnson Park Advisory Board members for $12 per person. Board member include Trudy Fredrickson, Tim Virkkala, Amber Davis, Dee Nikkila, Shonda Ware and PJ Katims. The price of the ticket entitles you to one glass of wine with your meal which includes spaghetti with meatballs, salad, bread and dessert. For more information or to order tickets please call 465-2960 or 465-2775.

Our guest chef will celebrate his 90th birthday the week before the event, so let him know you appreciate his willingness to give of his time and his special recipe to help out with this fundraiser. Ticket sales are going well, and we are only selling a total of 100, so make sure you get yours soon, as there may not be tickets available at the door.

The Free Friday Night Movie this week is a double feature. The first one features a teenage sleuth, a young girl that most of us read books about in our younger days. We have shown several of these older movies, and the audience seems to enjoy the ride back in time. The second film will also be an older classic. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Come join us for an old fashioned evening and enjoy a good movie with concessions also available.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets at the Rosburg Hall each week for a meal that is prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew.

On Thursdays, a senior lunch is also served at the Rosburg Hall and is sponsored by CAP. Lunch is served at noon for both venues.
