Sheriff's Report, April 2, 2015

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 23 — 2:52 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a ring had been stolen. 10:38 p.m. A caller reported seeing a man with a flashlight walking down a Puget Island road and looking at houses.

March 24 — 9:42 a.m. A caller reported that a log truck had broken down on SR 4 near County Line Park and had become a possible hazard. 12:34 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosburg home. 5:58 p.m. A smoke detector was activated at a Cathlamet home. The District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded, but it turned out to be a false alarm.

March 25 — 5:26 a.m. A caller reported that she had heard chainsaws on a nearby property in the Elochoman for the last four days; she believed someone must be trespassing. 7:18 a.m. A caller reported three stolen chainsaws from a Rosedale residence. 7:59 a.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a two car accident on SR 4 near County Line Park. 10:08 a.m. A deputy checked on the Elochoman Valley property where chainsaws had been heard and reported hearing a gun shot. Six minutes later he reported that everything was fine and all units could stand down. 10:03 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a trespasser.

March 26 — 12:50 a.m. A caller reported that a resident was in the hospital with a gunshot wound. 6:42 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that two bicycles had been stolen. 8:24 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported finding a bicycle in her driveway. 10:28 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone had cut their phone and security lines. 10:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Rosedale resident who was feeling unwell. 11:49 a.m. A caller reported that a child was being abused in the Rosedale area. 12:21 p.m. A caller reported a person speeding on a customized motorcycle in the Rosedale area. 2:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a toddler who had gotten a metal spring stuck in his foot. 3:52 p.m. A caller reported that passengers in a vehicle were firing shots into a field on Puget Island. 5:12 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident complaining of high blood pressure. 11:33 p.m. Two different callers on Puget Island reported that someone was driving around the neighborhood in an old, loud truck, pulling into driveways and turning the lights on and off.

March 27 — 2:17 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a Rosedale business. 10:01 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of no water pressure at a Puget Island address. The PUD reported that water had been shut off from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in that area. 10:13 a.m. Employees at a Cathlamet business reported a strange odor. 11:57 a.m. A deputy contacted two parties in a dispute after one nearly assaulted the other. 1:32 p.m. A caller reported that an individual who had been using drugs was driving around Cathlamet with a suspended license. 8:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who had taken nitroglycerin. 9:07 p.m. The sheriff’s department was asked to be on the lookout for an individual who was considered to be armed and dangerous. 11:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing resident in Cathlamet.

March 28 — 9:03 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that someone had broken their screen door during the night. 11:41 a.m. A credit card was found in a ditch alongside a road in the Skamokawa area. 2:32 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Puget Island residence. One person involved in the argument left the premises but began to call repeatedly to ask if the other person would pick him up and bring him home. The other individual did not want him to come back. 5:52 p.m. A caller reported a civil dispute over the sale of an old motor home. 6 p.m. A caller reported that a person who had shot an elk in Grays River had returned with a different vehicle and a tractor. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 6:58 p.m. A warrant service was performed in the Grays River area. 9:48 p.m. A caller reported that an adult had threatened two family members.

March 29 — 10:13 a.m. A caller reported two vehicles driving side by side on a Puget Island road. 11:29 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having trouble breathing. 2:46 p.m. A caller reported that an individual was chasing another individual headed to Puget Island. An advocate from mental health responded. 4:01 p.m. Child Protective Services requested assistance for a welfare check in the Rosedale area. 4:31 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported finding a bicycle in the driveway. 6:52 p.m. A deputy was in pursuit of a motorcyclist who had been riding at speeds well over 100 mph. The motorcyclist was pulled over in Cathlamet and taken into custody and his motorcycle was towed. 7:25 p.m. A caller was concerned after seeing several vehicles and people walking towards Crown Camp. 10:22 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was having a diabetic seizure.
