Terris Record works the mound for the Mules

The Toutle Lake Ducks baseball and softball teams came to Cathlamet to face the Wahkiakum Mules on Thursday.

In baseball action, the Mules lost their first game 3-6. Zach Brown pitched all seven innings and struck out four. The Ducks were able to get seven hits off him. Offensively Brown was 2-3 with two singles and a run-batted-in (RBI), Luke Brown went 1-3 with a single and an RBI, and Terris Record was 1-3 with an RBI.

The Mules won their second game 6-4 with Record on the mound. He pitched all seven innings, striking out seven and scattering eight hits. Joey Moore went 1-2 at bat and drove in one run. Brown was 1-3 with a double and two RBIs. Hank Ferguson was 2-3 at the plate, and Casey Wilson was 1-3 with one RBI.

"Toutle is a good ball club," Coach Marc Niemeyer said. "They are really aggressive at the plate. Both games were good baseball with a lot of good pitching and defense."

The Eagle didn't receive a report about softball action.

It is spring break for students in the Wahkiakum School District. The baseball and softball teams are scheduled to return to play on Saturday. The baseball team will play Onalaska in a double header at home while the softball team travels to Seattle to play Onalaska at the University of Washington.
