April 16, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 6 — 8:36 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident with abdominal pain. 11:47 a.m. A caller in the Beaver Creek area reported seeing a vehicle that had been stripped and turned over near his home. 4:01 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported finding the neighbor’s horses in his field. He said that this was an ongoing problem and asked if a deputy would speak to the neighbor. 9:18 p.m. A Deep River resident reported hearing shots fired. 10:32 p.m. A maintenance alarm was activated on an ATM in Cathlamet.

April 7 — 4:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Puget Island resident who was confused and feeling weak. 8:29 a.m. Domestic violence was reported at a Rosedale residence. 2:42 p.m. A caller reported that several vehicles were following the driver of a small sports car traveling at high speed on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. According to the caller, the driver of the sports car slammed on his brakes, almost causing an accident and then turned around and raced back toward Cathlamet. 5:14 p.m. After failing to contact the owner, an Elochoman Valley resident called to report that her neighbor’s horses were loose. 11:36 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having respiratory problems.

April 8 — 2:30 a.m. A resident in Pacific County reported a prowler. He believed that the person had headed east into Wahkiakum County. 4:55 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a couple prowlers. 5:51 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an elderly Rosburg resident with respiratory problems. 12:55 p.m. An individual reported a possible hit and run in the marina. 1:24 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a possible phone scam. 2:09 p.m. A Rosedale resident requested a deputy for a civil standby. 3:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with chest pain to the hospital. 7:05 p.m. Juveniles were seen throwing rocks at school windows in Cathlamet. 8:15 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that her brother had made a secret compartment behind her refrigerator and was hiding in it with plans to ambush her and her boyfriend. Investigation revealed that subjects were on stimulants.

April 9 — 1:33 a.m. A caller reported that a woman had been screaming outside a Rosedale home for the last couple nights. When the caller confronted her she said that her husband had been cheating on her and continued screaming. A call was made to the mental health department. 1:53 a.m. A Rosedale resident reported that an individual had violated a restraining order. Intoxicated, she had banged on his door. He asked her to leave. 12:24 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a theft. 2:34 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a phone scam involving someone claiming to be from the IRS. 6:00 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department and District 4 Fire Department used the school burn pile in Cathlamet for training. 6:06 p.m. A caller reported that two young men were in a convertible and driving recklessly on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 6:27 p.m. A Longview resident with dementia had driven away from his home and had not returned. The Longview Police Department requested assistance from the sheriff’s department. 8:35 p.m. A pedestrian on Puget Island reported that she and her friends had almost been hit by a vehicle that was speeding. The vehicle was stopped by a deputy. 9:09 p.m. A caller reported a problem with long distance calling.

April 10 — 8:29 a.m. The clinic requested transport for a patient to the hospital. They called again to cancel when the patient refused transport as well as to document the situation. 10:23 a.m. A maintenance alarm was activated on an ATM in Cathlamet. 10:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was in great pain due to an eruption of cellulitis. 11:17 a.m. A caller reported that items had been stolen from his storage unit in Cathlamet. 11:27 a.m. A caller reported that a toilet was missing from a restroom at a boat launch in Deep River. 1:44 p.m. A Rosedale resident was concerned about a door to door salesman claiming to be a representative from a satellite TV service provider. 3:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with abdominal pain. 4:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen.

April 11 — 12:14 a.m. The Grays River Fire Department, the Grays River ambulance, state patrol and the sheriff’s department responded to a single vehicle accident in Deep River. The car had been driven off the road and the driver who had exited the vehicle and headed into the woods was angry and possibly intoxicated. 8:25 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided two elderly Rosedale residents who were having heart issues. 10:30 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle off the road near Skamokawa. State patrol and a deputy responded and a tow truck was called. 4:23 p.m. A caller reported cows on a Puget Island road. The owner was contacted.

April 12 — 9:19 p.m. Two individuals were taken into custody during a vehicle stop on SR 4 near Flandersville. 10:30 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported being threatened by a family member.
