Sheriff's Report, April 23, 2015

 

April 23, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 13 — 10:11 a.m. Hotel Cathlamet reported that they would be testing their fire alarm. 11:25 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident was concerned that the recipient of a protection order was living nearby and may have been driving past her home repeatedly. A deputy investigated and discovered that the subject had been in the area to work but left the area after the job was completed. The caller was told that no action would be taken at the time but to notify the sheriff’s office if the subject returned. 11:26 a.m. An explosion behind a Cathlamet business prompted investigation. It turned out that a bird had flown into a transformer. 2:35 p.m. Child abuse was reported in the Deep River area. 4:56 p.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a man who was reported to be incoherent entered a Cathlamet office. The Mental Health department was notified and en route. The Mental Health department decided to provide shelter for the individual overnight and transport him to Longview the next day for evaluation.

April 14 — 7:25 a.m. A Deep River resident reported that a dog had turned up at his home and was sitting on his porch. The dog did not have a collar and would not allow the caller to come within six feet. The caller hoped to gain the dog’s trust and take him to a vet. 9:08 a.m. A Cathlamet office reported an incoherent man nearby. A deputy transported the man to a shelter and the Mental Health department was notified. 9:50 a.m. A Cathlamet business reported an individual who appeared to be intoxicated and was unwelcome. 10:18 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an individual who had hurt his back. 12:05 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a man had come to the door and asked for clothing. At 12:21 p.m., the same caller reported that the man was dumpster diving at a nearby vacant home. 2:04 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious man had backed his truck into a driveway and was possibly stealing things. 3:10 p.m. A caller reported a man in the middle of a Cathlamet road directing traffic. The individual was taken into custody. 3:32 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that an unwelcome individual had come to her home. 4:17 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with chest pain and fatigue. LifeFlight was activated. 5:58 p.m. A caller reported an individual walking back and forth in traffic on the bridge to Puget Island. A deputy investigated and found out the man was taking pictures. 7:25 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that the neighbor’s cows were in his yard and that it was an ongoing problem.

April 15 — 2:31 a.m. A Deep River resident alerted the sheriff’s department that a homeless individual with mental health issues may be traveling through Wahkiakum County. 11:16 a.m. The sheriff’s department stood by as Child Protective Services delivered papers to a parent in Deep River. 2:23 p.m. A caller requested assistance after locking his keys in his car. 3:48 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that two vehicles had been vandalized. 4:18 p.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported the theft of wood. 4:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who was experiencing numbness on her right side.

April 16 — 7:21 a.m. A caller reported a deceased deer on the side of SR 4 in the westend. 12:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident who was feeling ill. 9:01 p.m. A Rosedale resident with a no contact order received a text from his son that said that they had come home to find doors open and his father’s things moved around. The caller, who did not respond to his son because of the order, was concerned. He said he had not been in the house. 9:37 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a suspicious vehicle.

April 17 — 3:16 a.m. The Mental Health department reported that they had received a phone call from an individual who had hung up after threatening to kill himself. Contact was made with the individual who agreed to speak with someone at Mental Health. 6:12 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported a vehicle prowl. 10:18 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle all over the roadway. 10:40 a.m. A caller reported a truck parked in the middle of a field just west of County Line Park. A deputy discovered that it was waiting for a tow. 11:43 a.m. A caller reported that a driver traveling eastbound on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area had gone over the center line and was braking excessively. 12:19 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle headed east on SR 4 was all over the roadway. The driver was pulled over, given a field sobriety test and taken into custody. 2:01 p.m. A caller reported seeing a woman slumped over her steering wheel along SR 4 in the Grays River area. 4:46 p.m. A caller was concerned after reading about a possible sexual assault on Facebook. A deputy followed up and discovered the allegation was unfounded.

April 18 — 1:46 a.m. A caller reported six intoxicated juveniles walking around County Line Park. The caller said he found three of them doing drugs in the bathroom. A deputy arrived and spoke with two who hadn’t been drinking. The rest ran off into the woods. The deputy told the remaining two that the group should leave in the morning or he would return. 2:31 a.m. A caller reported a driver who was texting and all over the roadway on SR 4, heading west near Nassa Point. 6:39 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle crossing the center line and heading west at a slow rate on SR 4 near the KM summit.

April 19 — 8:20 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident with back pain. 10:14 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at the Skamokawa Fire Hall. A deputy made contact with two individuals who were there. One was intoxicated. The fire chief was notified.
