Sheriff's Report, April 30, 2015

 

April 30, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 20 — 10:23 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident received a fraudulent phone call from someone claiming he had won a trip. 3:57 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Skamokawa residence after the report of a possible overdose. 5:43 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Cathlamet resident. Contact was made with the individual and he was advised to call his family. 5:52 p.m. A caller reported a motorist driving erratically on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 9:02 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he had received a threatening phone call. 9:07 p.m. A confused, elderly man reported that his wife was missing after he had dropped her off at a Rosburg business. A search was conducted and she was found at home. The man was picked up by a family member and taken home.

April 21 - 10:16 a.m. A caller reported a possible squatter on Puget Island after finding a door open at a vacant home and a backpack inside. 11:20 a.m. A Deep River resident reported that a neighbor’s dog had attacked her dogs. 11:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a patient with high blood pressure and a migraine from the clinic in Cathlamet to the hospital. 2:04 p.m. A caller reported that a social security number may have been used fraudulently for tax purposes. 3:23 p.m. A man was seen lying on the side of SR 4 near County Line Park. 4:52 p.m. Two men were seen trespassing on a Cathlamet resident’s property. 9:55 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident. 10:17 p.m. A caller requested assistance to move a vehicle in the Rosburg area. A tow service was called, but the caller opted to borrow a gas can, which he used, refilled and returned to the sheriff’s department.

April 22 — 1:04 a.m. A caller reported seeing two suspicious men walking down a Cathlamet street then getting in a car. They continued to behave in a suspicious manner until they realized they were being watched, at which point they drove away. 1:47 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a call at a Rosedale residence after a boy with diabetic issues was reported to be vomiting. 3:08 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a patient with high blood pressure from the clinic in Cathlamet to the hospital.

April 23 — 8:11 a.m. A caller requested assistance for an elderly motorist whose car had broken down on KM. 1:48 p.m. A deputy performed a welfare check on a Cathlamet resident, but was unable to make contact with the individual. 5:17 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a fraudulent listing on Craigslist.

April 24 — 12:04 p.m. A motorist reported a collision with a deer. 3:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 3:32 p.m. An individual expressed concern about a family member who was possibly suicidal. 4:44 p.m. A caller reported that an individual had violated a restraining order. 7:57 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa business.

April 25 — 9:06 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a man set his dog loose after pulling up in a truck at her home. The dog attacked the resident’s dog and then the resident when she went outside to deal with the situation. Meanwhile the man appeared to be recording the event and laughing. 2:42 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had fallen and was unable to get up. 9:00 p.m. An armed and suicidal woman was reported to be in her car east of County Line Park. Wahkiakum deputies assisted in the attempt to locate the woman. Authorities in Cowlitz County were able to make contact with the woman and take her in for treatment. 9:22 p.m. A motorist hit an elk in the Rosburg area. 11:36 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a neighbor’s door was wide open.

April 26 — 1:39 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that two people were trespassing on her property. 9:47 a.m. After finding a window open, a Rosedale resident reported that someone had entered his home during the night. A deputy checked the home and found no evidence of entry, advised the resident to keep his windows and doors locked and to call the sheriff’s department if he saw any other suspicious activity regardless of the time of day or night. 2:23 p.m. An elderly man with a walker was seen hitchhiking on SR 4 near Cathlamet. Deputies were unable to locate the man. 4:45 p.m. A caller reported that another driver had almost run her off the road on SR 4 between Cathlamet and Skamokawa.
