The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Wahkiakum County officials will hold two special meetings to gather public comment on a proposed solid waste nuisance ordinance.

The first meeting will be next Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., at the Grays River Valley Center in Rosburg.

The second will be June 9, 6:30 p.m., in the third floor meeting room of the Wahkiakum County Courthouse, Cathlamet.

The proposed ordinance resulted from meetings last year in which citizens expressed concern of old vehicles and other items left along roads and on private property.

A committee of citizens and officials worked on a draft of the ordinance, which was unveiled earlier this spring.

After gathering input, officials may amend the ordinance; it will be the subject of a public hearing before it is formally adopted.
