Sheriff's Report, June 25, 2015

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 16 — 3:57 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported suspicious activity after his dogs started barking and he saw two vehicles leave his driveway and speed away. A deputy arrived a half hour later and looked around. The deputy returned the next day to help set up surveillance equipment. 4:22 a.m. A caller reported a tree down on a Puget Island road. Investigation revealed that a neutral power line was down as well, and the PUD was notified. 8:47 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with chest pain to the hospital. 1:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with chest pain to the hospital. 1:41 p.m. A Rosedale resident was concerned that an individual had violated a restraining order. 2:54 p.m. A toddler was found wandering alone on a Cathlamet street. The toddler’s mother was located. She believed the child had risen while they were napping and exited the home via an open sliding glass door. Child Protective Services was informed. 4:56 p.m. A caller reported a dispute between a man and a woman on a Puget Island roadway. The man appeared to be chasing the woman. A deputy responded and the male subject was taken into custody. 7:32 p.m. Deputies, District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to the report of a flipped truck and minor injuries on the Bradley Trail. 10:23 p.m. A caller complained about a noisy neighbor in an apartment building in Cathlamet.

June 17 — 12:07 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone was trespassing and causing a disturbance. 2:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident with abdominal pain. 3:46 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an individual who had been using the local bus service. After causing a disturbance, the individual was dropped off at County Line Park where he crossed the road and fell into a ditch. The responding deputy determined the individual was intoxicated and took him home. 6:48 p.m. A caller reported seeing four kids taking an ATV out of the garage of a vacant Puget Island home. 11:23 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that he had fired a shot while chasing a man off his property. Deputies responded and the resident was asked to come out while showing his hands. The resident was advised to call the sheriff’s department and not to shoot at people on his property.

June 18 — 6:02 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that a neighbor’s cows were in his yard. 6:32 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that there had been a suspicious group of men looking at a boat in his yard. When approached by a neighbor, the men said they thought the boat was for sale. 6:43 p.m. A caller reported having information on drug use in the area.

June 19 — 11:35 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosburg resident. 1:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a man with a foot injury at the request of a deputy. The man was transported to the hospital, where he refused to enter. 5:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having trouble breathing. 5:39 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosburg home. The owner was contacted. 6:27 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale home. 7:53 p.m. A caller reported that cows were loose and on a Skamokawa road. The owner was notified. 8:53 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that there were squatters on his property. 9:54 p.m. A caller reported a missing pig on Puget Island. The pig was located and returned to the owner.

June 20 — 11:27 a.m. A Cathlamet resident complained that an individual visiting a neighbor had brought a pitbull and that it was not always on a leash. 12:08 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading east on SR 4 near Flandersville. 2:23 p.m. Power outages were reported on Puget Island after a tree had fallen. The PUD was notified. 5:54 p.m. A hit and run was reported in Cathlamet. The driver was stopped and taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

June 21 — 1:33 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver heading west on SR 4 in the Rosburg area. 3:22 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to the report of a car in a ditch and a possible injury. They found the vehicle unoccupied. A deputy went to the driver’s residence and an individual was taken into custody. 3:31 p.m. A caller reported a man riding an ATV on the sand at the north end of Vista Park. 6:34 p.m. An erratic driver was reported to be heading west on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 9:38 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department warned a Rosedale resident about burn violations after a neighbor complained about his fire.
