Broadway Street parking disrupted as town repairs sewer lift station

The Town of Cathlamet is replacing the pumps in a sewage lift station located at the foot of TugBoat Alley.

The work may disrupt traffic on Broadway Street. The town public works crew has installed a surface line to divert flow to another line leading to the station that pumps the waste water to the treatment plant.

Public Works Director Duncan Cruickshank said that to do this safely, it is necessary to stop the flow at the upstream manhole at the foot of Broadway. The diverted flow is being pumped from there (near Helping Hands Food Bank) to a manhole at the Scarborough Building, which bypasses the Tug Boat Alley lift station.

Work started Monday.

"We estimate that the total duration of this project will be less than two weeks," Cruickshank said in a press release. "As soon as we can turn the flow back on to Tug Boat Alley, we will.

"The Public Works staff apologize for the inconvenience this will cause residents, business owners, and visitors alike."
