August 20, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 10 — 8:40 a.m. An erratic driver was headed eastbound on SR 4 in Deep River. 1:38 p.m. A deceased deer was found on the side of an Elochoman Valley road. 10:26 p.m. Suspicious activity was reported at the motel at Nassa Point. A deputy discovered that access had been gained to two apartments and a nearby shop.

August 11 — 1:02 a.m. A Puget Island resident was concerned about the mental health of a family member. An advocate from the mental health department was notified. 7:45 a.m. A herd of cows escaped from their pasture in Deep River. 8:53 a.m. A juvenile caused a disturbance at a Skamokawa home. The mental health department was notified. Two deputies responded and spoke with the juvenile who was calm after going for a walk as he had been advised to do when he was upset. 11:44 a.m. A woman was seen relieving herself in public in Cathlamet. 11:51 a.m. A Puget Island resident was concerned about a person who had taken pictures of her home. 3:54 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having a panic attack. 11:08 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to a fire in a Puget Island ditch.

August 12 — 9:03 a.m. A Rosburg resident complained about a neighbor who had been playing loud music all night and was throwing things on to his property. 1:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had chest pain. 3:47 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident with a cut on her leg. 6:06 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that a neighbor was harassing a person working for her. 11:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Puget Island resident who had cramps in her legs.

August 13 — 9:42 a.m. Log trucks were seen speeding in the Skamokawa area. 1:10 p.m. A request came in for help dispatching a deer in Skamokawa. 1:29 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale address.1:32 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a man who had fallen off a scooter in Cathlamet.

August 14 — 12:14 a.m. A juvenile reported a domestic disturbance at a Cathlamet residence. A deputy responded and the mother’s boyfriend left. The juvenile called again, upset, because her mother subsequently told her to leave. 4:46 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with abdominal pain. 11:12 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who was weak after a recent fall and shoulder injury. 2:20 p.m. More than 40 feet of steel cable was stolen from a site in Skamokawa, causing damage to wood posts. 6:13 p.m. An erratic driver was seen heading west from County Line Park on SR 4. 9:15 p.m. A Deep River resident was threatened. 9:39 p.m. A call came in from Cowlitz County to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle. 9:51 p.m. An erratic driver was seen heading west on SR 4 just east of Cathlamet.

August 15 — 12:39 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale address. A deputy investigated and found everything in order. 6:46 p.m. A Grays River resident reported a burglary. 8:15 p.m. A caller reported an illegal burn in the Skamokawa area. Investigation revealed that the fire was a campfire in an approved pit. 9:45 p.m. A driver was speeding in Cathlamet.

August 16 — 2:39 a.m. A Cathlamet resident was concerned about a suspicious vehicle that had pulled up at a neighbor’s home. Investigation revealed that it was a person delivering newspapers. 2:46 a.m. An ailing Deep River resident requested an ambulance but changed his mind after being asked a series of questions. 9:42 a.m. A purse was stolen from a Cathlamet business. 10:51 a.m. Smoke was seen in the Rosburg area but the Cathlamet Fire Department and the Grays River ambulance were unable to find a fire. 12:02 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a fire on Puget Island. 12:48 p.m. A dog was found. 7:12 p.m. An erratic driver was seen on SR 4 near Skamokawa. 7:31 p.m. An individual was taken into custody during a vehicle stop for driving under the influence. 8:16 p.m. An erratic driver was seen on SR 4 heading west from Cathlamet.

August 17 — 2:45 a.m. A caller reported hearing several shots fired in the Elochoman Valley. 8:06 a.m. A Cathlamet resident was attacked by two women. 1:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Elochoman Valley resident with chest pain.
