Scheduling overlap presents issues

To The Eagle:

What a shame that two very popular community events had to be scheduled for the same weekend. The county fair is a long standing tradition with events and entertainment for all ages, especially youth and 4-H. These youth are learning and exhibiting skills that will serve them well in the future. (Without farmers we would all starve). The skateboard competitions have also become a popular spectator event bringing a lot of visitors to the area.

The problem is that this county does not have enough people to support two events at a time. Accommodations were also strained, Vista Park had to turn campers away. The fair is scheduled the same week every year and planned a year in advance. The skateboard races were previously held later.

Whoever is responsible for this scheduling conflict needs to step up and take blame for the damage done to the fair. Food for thought: Would you rather have your child grow up to be a skater or something useful like a farmer, mechanic, carpenter, photographer, etc?
