September 3, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 25 — 7:53 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Main Street address. Front and back doors were found open. 11:02 a.m. The Department of Corrections requested assistance in locating a subject. An individual was taken into custody. 12:29 p.m. A caller on Puget Island reported that he had been kicked in the throat. An individual was taken into custody. 12:39 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with chest pain to the hospital. 12:47 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported a missing dog. 12:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had been kicked in the throat. 2:27 p.m. A caller reported a log truck headed east on SR 4 that was dragging a log and smoking. 2:51 p.m. A caller reported a trespasser on KM. 4:41 p.m. A man was seen throwing garbage into some bushes in Cathlamet. 5:37 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Puget Island home.

August 26 — 12:58 a.m. The Cathlamet and District 4 Fire Departments responded to the report of a fire in an unapproved fire pit near Nassa Point. 1:39 a.m. State patrol requested an assist from the sheriff’s office for a driver who had been assaulted. The sheriff’s office did not respond because the individual did not want to press charges. 11:08 a.m. An individual violated a no contact order in Deep River. 6:09 p.m. A caller was concerned that a horse belonging to a Skamokawa resident was being neglected.

August 27 — 7:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Puget Island resident who thought he was having a heart attack. 11:07 a.m. A motorist reported that his vehicle had been struck by a motorhome while crossing the Puget Island bridge. The motorhome did not stop. 1:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a pregnant woman who was having problems in Cathlamet. 2:00 p.m. The sheriff’s office helped Adams County sheriff’s office contact a local individual. 4:04 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that she and her family had received a death threat from a neighbor. An individual was taken into custody. 5:17 p.m. A parked vehicle was partially blocking a street in Cathlamet.

August 28 — 9:31 a.m. A theft was reported at a Cathlamet address. 3:18 p.m. A caller reported that a semi was disabled and partially blocking SR 4 on KM Mountain. 4:35 p.m. A motorist reported that another driver was speeding and had nearly run her off a Rosburg road. 5:17 p.m. A caller reported a loose cow on Puget Island. The owner was notified. 6:03 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business.

August 29 — 12:45 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that he had received threatening phone calls from his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. 2:27 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported a suspicious vehicle. 7:25 a.m. Two Cathlamet residents and one Elochoman Valley resident reported that they had no water. A representative from the Town of Cathlamet was notified. 8:27 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported a power outage. The PUD responded. 8:44 a.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded to the report of a small brush fire at Vista Park. 1:20 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a power outage. The PUD was notified. 3:00 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who was detoxing. 4:11 p.m. A caller reported that there had been several speeding vehicles on their Skamokawa road recently. 7:10 p.m. A caller reported that a tree was down and partially blocking an eastbound SR 4 lane on KM. 9:21 p.m. Deputies attempted to locate a truck heading west from Cowlitz County after a report came in that a person had been thrown from the vehicle. 11:13 p.m. A caller reported a tree down in the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Grays River area.

August 30 — 10:04 a.m. A vehicle was found 20 feet over an embankment and in the Columbia River. The sheriff’s department attempted to locate the owner. 11:18 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa home. 7:31 p.m. A caller reported hitting a deer on Puget Island, disabling his vehicle and killing the deer. 7:56 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island residence. 8:55 p.m. A caller reported three suspicious people walking down a Puget Island road. 9:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an elderly Cathlamet resident who had a possible blood clot. 10:15 p.m. A power outage was reported on Puget Island. The PUD was notified.
