The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

The Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce recently had to make a tough decision. The Board voted to cancel the 2015 Battle of the Bowls: Chili vs. Chowder competition due to low turnout from cooking participants. The initial deadline of August 25 was extended to end of day August 28 and at that time, there were only two applicants interested in cooking chili and one for chowder. The event was slated for Saturday, September 5.

The Chili Cook-off event started 12 years ago and has had a large variety of participants. Unfortunately, in recent years, the Chamber Board has seen a significant drop in involvement. The idea this year was to broaden the event to include chowder in hopes that more people would want to cook and share their specialties. Unfortunately this did not happen.
