November 26, 2015



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 16 — 10:23 a.m. A Puget Island resident was concerned about a suspicious vehicle that had pulled into their driveway. 3:42 p.m. A caller reported that someone was stealing pine boughs from private land.

November 17 — 1:30 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a fire alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address. It turned out to be a false alarm. 5:58 a.m. Road report: a small slide was reported on a Rosburg road and several roads in the Westend were closed due to flooding. Several trees were down in the Westend, in the Elochoman Valley, Cathlamet and on Puget Island. A caller reported high water on a Skamokawa road. 12:13 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Grays River resident. A deputy made contact, she was fine. 2:51 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in the Elochoman Valley allegedly caused by downed power lines. 3:55 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a tree had fallen on his car. 7:32 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that a van had been left in his driveway. He was advised to call the sheriff’s office the next day if it were still there. 7:35 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a downed power line in a Beaver Creek resident’s driveway. The PUD was notified. 8:47 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported an injured deer in her driveway. The resident was advised to call the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

November 18 — 2:11 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who wanted to return to the hospital. 4:11 a.m. A woman with chest pain and respiratory issues was brought to the Cathlamet Fire Hall. She was transported to the hospital. 4:45 a.m. A caller reported that a vessel in the Columbia River near Nassa Point was flashing a white light. The Coast Guard was notified and asked if someone nearby could respond in a more timely manner. No one was available. The CG dispatched a helicopter and said that a boat from Portland could be there in two hours. At 8:07, the CG requested that a deputy go to Nassa Point to check on the vessel. At 9:00, a report came in that there was no vessel. 5:54 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had had a seizure. 6:51 a.m. A deputy responded when a caller reported finding a car that had struck a tree. No one was around, but the driver was located at the hospital in Longview. The vehicle was towed. 12:49 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was having breathing difficulties. 2:31 p.m. A vehicle was found abandoned off the Spruce Creek Mainline. 2:37 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded when a caller said that three trees were lying on power lines along SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley. The PUD was notified. It turned out to be phone lines. 5:10 p.m. A caller reported that someone had left keys at a Cathlamet business. 8:22 p.m. A caller reported a woman walking in a Cathlamet street. The caller was worried about the walker’s safety.

November 19 — 9:02 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with an infection. 10:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having an asthma attack. 12:17 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Deep River home. 8:01 p.m. A caller reported what appeared to be a drug deal at a Rosedale residence. 11:14 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was moaning and otherwise unresponsive.

November 20 — 1:48 p.m. A caller reported finding an unknown horse in a Rosburg yard. 3:27 p.m. A caller reported that cows were loose in the Rosburg area. The owner was notified. 3:57 p.m. A Skamowa resident reported that someone had backed into his fence. 5:26 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that someone was outside his neighbor’s garage and that his neighbor was not home. A deputy responded and reported that it was a deer. 5:29 p.m. A caller reported that there were eight sheep on a Puget Island road. 7:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with breathing issues. 7:13 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen and hurt his shoulder. 10:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was sick.

November 21 — 12:21 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about noisy neighbors. A deputy responded and the neighbors said they had been putting the kids to bed and would try to keep it down. At 1:18 a.m., the Cathlamet resident complained again about the noisy neighbors, saying that the deputy had gone to the wrong address. There was now a fight in progress. Deputies responded and requested an ambulance for a possible back injury and alcohol poisoning. A male and female were transported to the hospital by the Cathlamet ambulance and a deputy went to the hospital because of a hand injury. 9:07 a.m. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle in the Elochoman Valley. 12:18 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was complaining of dizziness. 2:22 p.m. A caller reported a dead elk in an Elochoman Valley gravel pit. 5:22 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that there was a leak in her water line and that she could not turn it off. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded and the PUD was notified. 7:03 p.m. Several cows were found in a Rosburg road. 11:02 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that a vehicle was driving back and forth slowly past his home, only to speed off and return and do it again.

November 22 — 6:18 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident with low blood pressure and a high heart rate. 10:19 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having difficulty breathing.

November 23 — 4:44 a.m. A caller reported a tree blocking both lanes of a Puget Island road.
