The discussion was serious at a well represented Puget Island table as they chose a delegate and debated whether Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton should represent them in the primary.

Despite a couple early bumps, the Democratic Caucus went smoothly on Saturday morning in the multipurpose room at J.A.Wendt Elementary School.

A Cathlamet precinct had finished caucusing and were just enjoying the experience and each other's company Saturday morning.

Like every other county in the State of Washington, Bernie Sanders was declared the winner, with 17 delegates to Hillary Clinton's two.

Sanders gained 13 delegates out of a possible 15 on the east side of the county, where 110 people represented eight precincts.

At a very crowded Skamokawa table, Clinton had only gotten one vote.

Fifteen people showed up to represent three precincts at the caucus in Rosburg, and Sanders was awarded all four of their delegates.

There were a few children in attendance, either learning about elections or trying to find ways to entertain themselves. There were even a few high school students who were 18 or about to turn 18 were serious about the matter and excited to vote in their first election.

"I'm happy that so many people are getting involved in this election," Sue O'Connor, the Wahkiakum Democratic Party Chair said.
