Cathlamet brewery to serve special beer

Cathlamet's Rivermile 38 Brewery will serve a special beer this weekend as part of an international program.

In honor of International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day, Pink Boots Society chapters, members, breweries and supporters around the world donned their brewing boots and brewed a beer at their brewery, brewpub or house for the benefit of the Pink Boots Society on March 5th. With over 2500 members in 25 countries, and more than 75 commercial breweries, the variations were limitless.

North Jetty Brewing hosted the Columbia Pacific Chapter's Big Boots Brew Day. Participants on the brew day included Stephanie Leach from North 47 Brewing, Piper Gladwill from Fort George Brewery, Joan Chester from River Mile 38, Emily Engdahl- Executive Director of Pink Boots, Tanner Davies- Regional Sales Rep from Country Malt Group, Andi Day- Executive Director of the Long Beach Visitor's Bureau, and local Pink Boots members and employees from the Astoria/Long Beach Peninsula area.

The chapter opted for a wheat beer with a Kolsch yeast as a base, adding 50 pounds of strawberries and 50 pounds of rhubarb, and dry hopped with Mosaic hops. Rhuberry Blonde Ale comes in at 5.5 ABV and 12.3 IBU with slight fruit flavor and citrus/strawberry aroma.

A portion of the profits from Pink Boots Society Big Boots Brew Day, events and sales using the Pink Boots Society name or logo are donated to the Pink Boots Society and will be used for scholarships for women in the brewing industry.

The mission of the Pink Boots Society is, “to empower women beer professionals to advance their careers in the beer Industry through Education,” which it accomplishes by providing professional training scholarships and seminars.
