Mules win pair, lose pair, head to districts

Despite taking the loss, Zach Brown struck out nine in the second game against Adna.

The Wahkiakum Mule baseball team won two games against Morton White Pass last week, but lost two more in a double header at home against Adna on Tuesday. As of Tuesday, they were in fourth place in league standings with a 12-6 record.

On Wednesday, April 27, the Mules traveled to Morton and beat the Timberwolves 8-3 and 13-1 in a double header.

James Anderson pitched six innings of game one and got the win, allowing one hit and three runs, one of which was earned. He struck out six batters. Luke Brown came in as relief and got the save. He struck out one and gave up no hits.

Zach Brown went 2-4 at bat. He hit a triple and a double and drove in two runs. Terris Record went 3-4 with a double and two RBIs. Anderson went 2-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Colton Mace and Joey Moore were both 1-2 and drove in a run each.

Z. Brown pitched four innings in the second game and got the win. He struck out eight batters and allowed one hit and one earned run. L. Brown relieved his older brother and got the save, pitching the final two innings. He struck out four and walked one but gave up no hits.

Moore was 5-5 at bat and drove in five runs. Z. Brown went 1-1 with a double and three RBIs. Record was 2-4 with a double, driving in one run.

Adna came to town on Tuesday and handed the Mules two tough losses, 2-4 and 2-3.

Record was 1-3 at bat with an RBI. L. Brown went 1-2.

Z. Brown pitched five innings in game two and took the loss. He struck out nine batters and walked one. He gave up six hits and three earned runs. Record pitched the final two innings. He struck out three and walked two. He didn't give up any runs.

Z. Brown went 2-3 and hit two home runs. Moore went 1-4 with a double.
