Sheriff's Report, July 7, 2016

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 27 — 2:22 p.m. A medical pendant was activated at a Rosedale home. 3:09 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the Elochoman Valley. 4:25 p.m. A fire alarm was activated after a break-in at the middle school in Cathlamet. 4:52 p.m. An investigator in Vancouver requested information about a 2014 event involving a pavement scam.

June 28 — 7:21 a.m. A caller reported an abusive ex-boyfriend living in the Beaver Creek area. She was concerned he might hurt someone else. 7:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with abdominal pain. 9:27 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with heart problems. 11:24 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that her family was being harassed by a former family friend. The caller was advised to apply for a no contact order. 11:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having chest pain. 2:15 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained that her child was being harassed by a former family friend. The father called and asked that the former friend be notified that if she came on their property it would be considered trespassing. The friend was notified and she asked that the family never call her again. The message was relayed. 5:53 p.m. An individual was taken into custody for warrants in Cowlitz County after a vehicle stop on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 8:36 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 10:27 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had fallen.

June 29 — 1:07 a.m. A door alarm was activated at the county's KM Mountain storage facility. A deputy checked and everything was secure. 1:19 a.m. A caller reported an underage party in the woods near Mill Creek Road. Cowlitz County advised that they had received the same report the night before and that they had found no one there. 3:56 p.m. A caller reported a tree down on a Grays River road. 8:22 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that a neighbor’s dog had been hurt by a large dog in the area. He said that the large dog had come into his yard and tried to attack his dogs. He threatened to shoot the dog if it returned.

June 30 — 5:10 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident with high blood pressure. 8:26 a.m. A caller reported that a cow was loose and on the side of SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 2:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident with abdominal pain. 3:34 p.m. A caller was concerned about an upset juvenile he had seen at the Puget Island bridge. 9:08 p.m. A caller reported that a juvenile was missing from a Rosedale home.

July 1 — 6:36 a.m. A caller reported that a large tree was down and blocking a Deep River road. 8:54 a.m. A caller reported that cows were loose and on a Puget Island road. The owner was notified. 9:08 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a man visiting her neighbor was harassing her about her dog. 10:51 a.m. A Puget Island resident was concerned that her home was being cased after a vehicle had passed at a slow speed. 3:26 p.m. A caller reported that an employee was being yelled at by a customer at a Cathlamet bank. 6:37 p.m. A caller reported that he had seen a man who appeared to be unconscious in the front seat of a vehicle parked at Nassa Point. He asked if someone would check on the man. 6:42 p.m. A caller reported that something that had been stolen in Long Beach was found in Deep River. A deputy went to the address and recovered the property. 7:55 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 8:31 p.m. A caller reported two goats and a dog walking down a Puget Island road. 9:53 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported hearing shots fired. 9:44 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained about several kids making a lot of noise in the neighborhood. 9:56 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area.

July 2 — 1:14 a.m. Deputies were asked to assist Washington State Patrol with a possible DUI in the Skamokawa area. An individual was taken into custody. 2:24 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Cathlamet. No flames or smoke were seen. 11:27 a.m. A Rosedale resident requested more patrols due to frequent speeding in the area. 1:54 p.m. A caller reported that a boat had overturned, sending three people into the Columbia River south of Puget Island. The caller’s husband was in his boat and en route. 3:51 p.m. A caller reported that water pressure was really low on Puget Island, and then called back four minutes later to cancel. 6:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who had a high temperature and was unable to get out of bed. 8:43 p.m. A caller reported a speeding boat in the Columbia River near County Line Park. The caller was concerned that the boater was inebriated after stopping to urinate over the side before speeding off again. A juvenile was sitting on the bow with his legs dangling over the edge. 9:18 p.m. A caller complained about a party at the marina in Cathlamet. 9:59 p.m. An individual was taken into custody in Cathlamet after the report of a civil dispute.

July 3 — 8:00 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported finding a deer that was deceased and foaming at the mouth on his property. 12:00 p.m. A caller reported a speeding boat on the south side of Puget Island. A child was seen on the bow with his legs dangling over the side. 12:01 p.m. A Rosedale resident found a deceased dog on the side of the road. 12:05 p.m. A caller reported that someone wearing a mask and white spandex pants had chased his friends at a park in Cathlamet the night before. 12:54 p.m. A door alarm was activated on KM. 1:14 p.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a one vehicle accident on SR 4 near Nassa Point. The individual signed a refusal for care. 2:57 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 3:06 p.m. A caller reported that a tree had come down on a power line in the Rosburg area. The PUD was notified. 4:45 p.m. A caller reported a couple of rocks on SR 4 on a blind corner in the Grays River area. 5:10 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that his mailbox had been stolen. 5:51 p.m. A burglar alarm was activated at a Rosburg residence. The homeowner was contacted; a family member had entered the wrong code. 8:37 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test during a vehicle stop on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 9:03 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 9:08 p.m. A Puget Island resident was concerned that a neighbor’s fire was producing black smoke. 9:25 p.m. The Puget Island Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire emitting black smoke on Puget Island. They put the fire out. 9:40 p.m. A caller reported that shots were being fired in the Elochoman Valley. A deputy advised that it was fireworks. 11:18 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department, deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a house fire in Cathlamet. The PUD shut off power to the home and the Town of Cathlamet shut off water. The two residents of the home were checked out by EMTs while the volunteer fire crew put out the fire on the back porch, basement and car in the driveway. A fire investigator was en route.

July 4 — 3:46 a.m. A vehicle had crashed into a rocky hillside just east of County Line Park. There was no one around. A state trooper was handling the matter. 8:19 a.m. A Puget Island resident was concerned after finding a door open at her home.
