Writer replies to previous letter

To The Eagle:

The letter to the editor last week (It just makes no sense) seems to me was appropriately titled.

The first point I guess the writer was trying to make is White Americans are more important to the media than people of color. Her proof was one killing got more coverage than another. I listen to and read many news sources and heard and read many reports about both horrible events. Perhaps if I only listened to public radio as the writer indicated she does, I too would be ignorant of the facts.

Decent people of all races are shocked and saddened by the senseless killing of anyone, to think otherwise is shameful. Fact: Not all people are decent, just the vast majority.

The second point the writer made was just as misinformed. To sum up all the brave men and women that volunteer to defend our great country as minimally educated, trained killers, is bordering on despicable.

I was one of those who served, as did my wife. I can say without question neither one of us is minimally educated after getting our degrees on the G.I. bill. There are things to make a future offered to all returning veterans, so again the writer was misinformed.

I had a thought that if the writer of last week’s letter was right, you know, that you had to be minimally educated to serve in the military, then she would have had a great career.
