Fair Manager Patty Dursteler has been working hard to bring back the old fashioned country fair to Wahkiakum County.

There was plenty of good music, animals and food. The kids in 4-H were busy and the exhibits in the youth barn showed that there was a lot of talent bubbling up in our county.

Unfortunately, the heat may have kept people away this year.

On Saturday, visitors took advantage of the cooler temperature. People were mucking stalls in the horse barn as they made preparations to leave and kids gathered for 4-H awards and a round robin. A few people joined in the fun at the bingo table, and friends met for an early dinner and conversation.

"Everyone I talked to loved the fair," Dursteler said. "The state judge liked the fact that we didn't have a bunch of commercial vendors."

Her old fashioned country fair is coming together. Hopefully next year, the weather will cooperate.
