Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

September 19 — 10:32 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a Rosedale toddler who was believed to have taken sleeping pills to the hospital. 11:09 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he was being harassed by a former girlfriend. 12:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having a seizure. 4:01 p.m. A social worker from St. John’s requested a welfare check when the guardian of a toddler who may have ingested pills decided to leave before the child could be seen by a doctor. A deputy made contact with the guardian. She reported that a urine analysis had been done at the hospital; the results were negative. After waiting several hours to see a doctor, the child’s father stepped in and decided they should leave. 6:05 p.m. A caller reported that a dog was loose and running back and forth on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 10:11 p.m. A caller asked for a welfare check at a Skamokawa residence. A deputy requested aid after going to the home. The Cathlamet ambulance responded.

September 20 — 12:26 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he had seen a suspicious individual running away after he investigated a loud noise on his property. A deputy responded and found footprints. 4:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had overdosed on a painkiller. 11:32 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle that had been parked for some time at a Skamokawa business. 1:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 1:25 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that she was being harassed. A deputy advised the caller to contact the court for an anti-harassment order. 7:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen and hit her head. 8:20 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he had found stolen property in his home. 11:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident.

September 21 — 8:30 a.m. A caller reported that a van had gone through a crosswalk near the school while children were crossing. 5:46 p.m. A caller reported an abandoned and underfed dog in the Cathlamet area. 8:44 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that three people were trespassing on his property. He said they had been drinking on his neighbor’s property the night before. The three were gone before a deputy arrived.

September 22 — 12:16 p.m. Deputies, the Grays River Fire Department and the Grays River ambulance responded to a logging accident in the Grays River area. William J. Leonard, 50, of Centralia, died when his shovel logging machine rolled down a long, steep slope. 5:09 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported seeing a dog eating an animal in a nearby yard. 7:19 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Deep River youth.

September 23 — 8:38 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained about a neighbor’s aggressive dogs. 11:06 a.m. A caller reported that there had been a violation of a protection order. 7:09 p.m. A caller reported a possible runaway. 8:01 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 8:06 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious man walking along SR 4. 8:20 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that his girlfriend was being harassed. 10:24 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that someone had stolen firewood from his property for the second time.

September 24 — 1:25 a.m. A caller reported that a man had passed out in front of a Rosedale business, surrounded by beer cans. The man was taken to the sheriff’s office before being transported by Cathlamet ambulance to the hospital for possible alcohol poisoning. 5:18 p.m. A caller reported that a tree had fallen and was partially blocking an Elochoman Valley road. 6:42 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having trouble with her pacemaker. 8:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Skamokawa resident. 8:47 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at a Puget Island home.

September 25 — 7:24 a.m. A caller reported seeing someone stealing bags of clothes from the clothing bank. A deputy made contact with the individual and he said he would return the items he had taken. 10:27 a.m. A Deep River resident reported trespassers on his neighbor’s property. A deputy made contact, and the people said they had permission to be there. 12:25 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Rosburg. It turned out to be a false alarm. 6:33 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver heading east from Naselle.

September 26 — 10:56 a.m. A Rosedale resident complained that his neighbor was burning green wood and that the embers were falling on his car.
