Author James R. Wells to be featured in Northwest Voices event.

Lower Columbia College has announced that James. R. Wells will be featured at the October 17 Northwest Voices event in Longview. First, Wells will conduct a writing workshop from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in Main 145 on the Lower Columbia College campus. From 7:00-8:00 p.m., he will hold a reading at the Longview Public Library. Both events are free and open to the public.

Wells is the author of the science fiction novel The Great Symmetry, grand prize winner of the 2015 Cygnus Award for speculative fiction. The second installment in the series, named The Eternal Moment, will be published in 2017. His stories combine adventure with an exploration of themes around the freedom of ideas and information.

A life-long caver and outdoor explorer, he has mapped new passages in many of North America's great caves. When not writing or with family, James can be found in a cave, on a mountain, under the sea, or anywhere else outside.

James is the great-grandson of pioneering science fiction author H.G. Wells.

For more information about the event contact Hiedi Bauer, Chair, Department of Language and Literature at 360-442-2630 or hbauer@lowercolumbia.edu. For more information about the author, visit http://www.thegreatsymmetry.com/.
