November 17, 2016



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 7 — 6:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident with a prolapsed uterus. 5:22 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a power outage. The PUD was notified. 5:28 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire on Puget Island. 6:23 p.m. A motorist reported that an owl was suffering after he had struck it while driving down a Puget Island road.

November 8 — 8:28 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that an individual had violated a protection order. 12:58 p.m. The sheriff’s office was asked to be on the lookout for a vehicle stolen from a parking lot in Kelso. 5:05 p.m. A caller reported an angry, speeding motorist on a Deep River road. 5:14 p.m. A Cathlamet resident asked for a welfare check on two young girls who came to her door and told her that they were collecting donations for victims of the government. The caller was concerned because of their youth and because they were out alone at that hour.


November 9 — 6:13 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had abdominal pain. 9:05 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who may have had a stroke. 2:04 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that hunters were trespassing on his property. 4:10 p.m. A caller from the Superior Court reported that they had received a bad check. 5:37 p.m. An individual attempted to seize property that allegedly belonged to him in the Elochoman Valley area. 6:51 p.m. Washington State Patrol requested assistance with a possible drunk driver in the Grays River area.

November 10 — 12:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 4:10 p.m. An individual asked to talk to a deputy about a parenting plan. 5:04 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a vehicle that was parked in the middle of SR 4 in the Rosedale area.

November 11 — 8:38 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Cathlamet resident. 9:15 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle parked in a handicap spot in a Cathlamet parking lot. 3:03 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a possible chimney fire in the Elochoman Valley. 6:08 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Cathlamet resident. 8:13 p.m. An inmate at the county jail allegedly stole another inmate’s phone access code.

November 12 — 7:11 a.m. A caller reported seeing a suspicious individual reaching into a Grays River mailbox. 9:07 p.m. Pacific County asked the sheriff’s office to be on the lookout for anyone who appeared to be fleeing after a homicide on the Long Beach Peninsula. 12:33 p.m. A caller asked for a civil standby while he picked up his property at an Elochoman Valley residence. Another party claimed that there was an order to keep that individual off the property. 2:14 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident. The patient refused transport to the hospital. 3:18 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a theft. 9:43 p.m. A caller found a dog with road rash near County Line Park. 11:01 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident asked to speak to a deputy regarding a recent report of a theft.

November 13 — 12:41 a.m. Deputies responded after a driver went into a ditch and fled the scene in the Elochoman Valley. 7:22 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported an assault and an individual was taken into custody. 6:47 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident with a respiratory issue.

November 14 — 7:49 a.m. A caller reported that a deer had been struck by a vehicle near County Line Park. 10:03 a.m. When a student in Cathlamet left campus, his parent told the school to report him as truant. Less than an hour later, the student returned to school with a guardian. 10:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had chest pain.
