Sheriff's Report, November 24, 2016

 

November 24, 2016



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 14 — 11:51 a.m. A caller reported that he had lost three bottles of opioid pain medication while hunting in the Elochoman Valley. 1 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a student in Cathlamet who had chest pain. 2:12 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a caller reported seeing smoke and flames coming from a Rosedale home. It turned out to be a controlled burn.

November 15 — 9:17 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a medical alarm at a Cathlamet home. A resident had fallen and was transported to the hospital. 10:13 a.m. A caller was concerned that some cows in a field just east of KM were trapped by rising water. A deputy investigated and judged that the cows had access to natural vegetation and water as well plenty of room to roam. 12:41 p.m. A caller reported that his father’s caregiver had taken money from his account while he was in the hospital. 2:16 p.m. A caller reported that two men were hunting from a vehicle on the refuge. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified.


November 16 — 1:33 a.m. Deputies and a representative from the mental health department responded to the report of a traffic accident near Nassa Point. 11:48 p.m. A caller reported a traffic accident on SR 4 in the Grays River area. 12:56 p.m. A caller reported that a family member was in an abusive relationship and had been hit recently. The individual could not be located. 2:51 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had not been returned after being loaned to his co-owner’s son. 4:31 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department was notified that the pump house on Puget Island was not working properly. A member of the diking district was notified. 5:12 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that the owner of a logging company had continually disregarded his request that they not park in his driveway. 9:54 p.m. Pacific County asked the sheriff’s office to check some Westend roads for the vehicle of a missing family.


November 17 — 6:01 a.m. A caller reported a power outage at a Rosburg home. 9:05 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that an individual had violated a restraining order and had stolen some money. 9:15 a.m. A motorist complained that he’d had to pull over to avoid a log truck that was being driven over the center lane on a Deep River road. 12:11 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a caller reported that a propane pizza oven had caught fire. 12:48 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was bleeding from the mouth. The resident refused transport. 12:53 a.m. A caller reported a deceased deer on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 1:57 p.m. An alarm was activated at a home near County Line Park. 6:08 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 6:46 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when heavy smoke was seen in the Cathlamet area. It turned out to be a controlled burn.


November 18 — 9:50 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with abdominal bleeding. 2:00 p.m. A caller reported a case of identity theft. 3:01 p.m. An individual with a warrant was taken into custody in the Grays River area. 3:33 p.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded to a controlled burn in the Alger Creek area. An individual was taken into custody.

November 19 — 12:07 a.m. A deputy, the Cathlamet ambulance, and the District 4 Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident on an Elochoman Valley road. A tree had fallen and was blocking one lane. The driver said he was uninjured but extra volunteers were needed to do an extraction because the vehicle was in a ditch and tilting towards the river. The county road department dealt with the tree and had the road open at 1:29 a.m. 1:31 p.m. A caller reported several speeding vehicles on SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. 3:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an inmate who was having a seizure at the county jail.

November 20 — 4:57 p.m. A Puget Island resident asked for assistance after being locked out of his vehicle. 5:52 p.m. A caller reported that a driver had blocked an Elochoman Valley road. The caller said the individual was waving a sign and yelling at people as well.
