Westend news:

Once again the Grays River Grange 124 will open their doors to the entire community for an old fashioned, traditional Christmas Party. Mark your calendar for December 13 at 6:30 p.m.

The evening starts with a wonderful potluck dinner so please bring a dish to share, if you wish. Following the meal you will be treated to some old fashioned caroling, a gift exchange, a raffle drawing (you can purchase raffle tickets at the party), a special recognition of Years of Grange membership, and the annual reading of The Night Before Christmas by our very own Robert Pyle. I can’t imagine anyone else doing this honor each year.

Of course, if everyone has been more nice than naughty, I’m pretty sure the big guy in the red suit will make an appearance as well. He always seems to know when to show up on such a special occasion.

If you have a child attending, please bring a gift with your child’s name on it for Santa to deliver.

If you wish to participate in the adult gift exchange, bring a gift not to exceed $5 and mark the package male or female. Everyone is welcome, you need not be a Grange member to attend.

Please bring non-perishable food items to share with our food banks, and enjoy a delightful family evening.

For questions, call Grays River Grange at 465-2268 and someone will return your call or email: grange@wwest.net.

The West End Food Pantry is still gearing up for the Christmas holiday food baskets and they continue to ask for our help. You can still pick up a feedbag and join in on the “Fill a Feedbag” program by filling your bag with food items for a holiday meal and returning it by December 15.

The Westend Food Pantry is located in the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park and is open on Thursdays, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each week.

Tickets are now on sale for the annual Crab and Oyster Feed, sponsored by the American Legion Deep River Post #111. The event will be held on January 28 with doors opening for Happy Hour at 6 p.m. Remember, only 200 tickets will be sold and the price is $28 per person.

Get your tickets by calling Ken Elliot at 465-2274, Nick Nikkila at 465-2595 or Dale Rose at 465-2234.

The Free Saturday Night movie this week is another kid friendly show released in 2016 and is rated PG. Our heroine returns in a sequel to the whimsical world of Wonderland and travels back in time to help the Mad Hatter.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meet in the Rosburg Hall each week for a home cooked meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteers. Lunch is served at noon.

On Thursdays a senior meal is also offered at the same location and is sponsored by CAP.
