Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 28 — 7:24 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with abdominal pain. 1:24 p.m. A burglary was reported at a Rosedale home. 3:39 p.m. A caller reported that several people were trespassing on his property in Rosburg. 3:43 p.m. A caller reported that prescription medication had been stolen from an Elochoman Valley home. 4:12 p.m. A fight broke out among some inmates at the county jail.

November 29 — 4:57 a.m. Washington State Patrol notified the sheriff’s office that there would be a network outage. It lasted a little over 30 minutes. 1:23 p.m. An alarm was activated on an ATM in Cathlamet.

November 30 — 12:59 p.m. A caller reported that an individual had stopped a logging truck on a Deep River road and would not let it pass. 2:43 p.m. A caller reported speeding vehicles on a Puget Island road. 11:36 p.m. A caller reported that several trees were down and more were falling on property along SR 4 just west of County Line Park. Several homeowners in the area were contacted. Rocks were also reported to be coming down the hillside, but were not on the roadway, so the Washington State Department of Transportation decided to keep the road open.

December 1 — 1:37 a.m. An alarm was activated at a home just west of County Line Park. The owner could not be contacted, so the sheriff’s office spoke with a family member. A deputy investigated and found the home to be secured. 5:24 a.m. Cowlitz County requested a tender to respond to a structure fire on Bunker Hill. The District 4 Fire Department responded. 2:37 p.m. A caller reported that a tree branch had fallen into the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Rosburg area. 6:14 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a despondent Skamokawa resident. A deputy tried to make contact.

December 2 — 9:14 a.m. A welfare check was requested for an Elochoman Valley resident. 9:27 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a strange text message to the sheriff’s office after being advised to do so by the phone provider. 1:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Beaver Creek resident with high blood pressure.

December 3 — 7:53 a.m. Two callers on Puget Island reported that they had seen a flashing emergency light in the Columbia River. The Coast Guard investigated and found the light: a beacon from a dredge had broken free. 11:14 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an unconscious Cathlamet resident. 11:34 a.m. A Rosburg resident complained about a neighbor’s pig after it came up on her deck and ate the food she had left out for her cat. 7:51 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a Skamokawa resident had a stroke. 9:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a confused Rosedale resident. 9:48 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a firearm had been stolen.

December 4 — 7:59 a.m. An individual who had been reported missing in the Westend was found in Cowlitz County. 10:18 a.m. The mental health department asked the sheriff’s office to detain an individual, if found, after he failed to meet standards for a less restrictive alternative treatment. 10:34 a.m. Jewelry had been stolen from a Cathlamet home. 2:46 p.m. A civil standby was requested at an Elochoman Valley home after a domestic disturbance.
