Are citizens ready to work for our future?

To The Eagle:

Sadly, neither the chair nor the vice chair of the Wahkiakum Democratic Party (WDP), and only one of the elected committee persons of the 11 precincts in our county attended an important meeting to elect/re-elect candidates for these positions.

At-large voters I contacted expressed their disgust with national and/or local politics and with both political parties. I wonder, are you ready to turn our country over to the most corrupt with the most money? Is that how you would honor those who fought and died in two world wars? Will you wait for a “revolution,” or will you at least try to effect change? Is it not better to have tried and lost than never to have tried at all?

As many citizens are disgruntled, I suggest we identify issues that concern us individually. Then we can separate into different camps and force elected officials of any stripe to do what we hired them to do.

Are you even mildly concerned by ongoing wars, terrorism, civil unrest, health care, education, taxes, welfare, discrimination, jobs, immigration, the environment, the electoral college, or any other issue? America is your country and it is your taxes that pay for the salaries of the local, state and national political officialdom in power and for the programs that are implemented. Only together can we force change and assure that our country remains the land of the free and the home of the brave!
