James Arthur "Art" Bryant, 90, of Longview, died on January 10, 2017.

Art was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, on September 10, 1926, to Arthur and Mabel (Floen) Bryant, then raised in Peace River and Edmonton.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the U.S. occupation of Germany after World War II, then became a naturalized U.S. Citizen in 1956.

He married Jeanne Dennett in 1956. The couple settled in Seattle where Art graduated with a B.S. in Physics from the University of Washington. They later raised their three children on Maury Island.

Art worked for Boeing and McDonnell Douglas then in later years for Seattle City Light. He retired in 1991.

His interests included lapidary work, mycology and brewing beer. His pilsner won best of show at the 2002 Wahkiakum County Fair.

Art's passion was his garden, where he used organic methods and practiced seed selection. His vegetables and fruits were enjoyed by family and his numerous friends.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne, his sister, Dorothy (Bryant) Mackie and brother Charles Bryant.

He is survived by daughter Kathleen M. (Bryant) Morgain of Skamokawa, daughter Twyla G. Bryant of Ellsworth, Maine and son Arthur S. Bryant of Ellsworth, Maine.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
