Westend news:

The annual Crab and Oyster Feed, sponsored by the American Legion Deep River Post #111, being held on January 28 is sold out! If you have purchased your tickets already and won’t be using them, I know someone who needs two. Please contact me if you have extra.

I’m sure that you are still welcome to purchase raffle tickets from Ken Elliot at 465-2274, Nick Nikkila at 465-2595 or Dale Rose at 465-2234. The big prize each year is a gun, and there are many other wonderful prizes in the raffle as well.

Live music will be provided by the King Brothers band this year, for the dance beginning at 9 p.m. You are welcome to attend the dance only with an entry fee of $5.

Proceeds from this event are used to support our veterans, youth and local charities.

A 3-C Soup with a Sidekick Chow Down will be held at the Johnson Park Center on Sunday, January 22 from noon to 4 p.m.

Check out the Grays River Cafe on SR 4, which is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. They have a great menu, which includes delicious home cooked food by the Ruch family. I can vouch for the cheeseburgers, fries, biscuits and gravy, crispy chicken salad and their incredible chicken fried steaks. Even the coffee is extra good and always fresh.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets each week in the Rosburg Hall for a delicious home cooked meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteers. Join a great bunch of local neighbors, enjoy a good meal with good company.

On Thursdays there is also a nutritious meal served in the Rosburg Hall and it is sponsored by CAP.

Happy Birthday to the following celebrants this week: Debbie Saari, Shelby Leeland, Alexa Benedict, Stacy Katyryniuk, Shelly Pitts, Dave Leeland, Stephanie Gudmundsen, Bobbie Jo Bighill, Amber Eaton and Monte Givens. Wishing each of you a perfect day.

Happy Anniversary to Garth and Darla Ullakko. Here’s to many more celebrations together.

It looks like we are in for some more wet weather with possible flooding as well. As of Tuesday, the ducks are making their way to our small pond in the pasture, so time to stock up for a couple of days of not driving out. Be safe everyone.
