A couple who recently moved to Cathlamet have brought a couple of new businesses to the area.

Formerly residents of northern California, Forrest and Beth Mora have purchased a house on Greewood Hill.

"My parents, Boone and Jean Mora, live here in Skamokawa, and we wanted to move close to them," Forrest stated.

Forrest took up ornamental horticulture in college, earned a bachelor degree in the subject, and has worked in many phases of landscaping, from wholesale and retail nurseries to landscape maintenance, design and construction. He has opened a business, to provide maintenance in this area.

"I work alone or with one of my sons," he said. "This keeps my customers happy because they communicate with the owner at all times."

Beth operates an online business called Here to Help learning (www.heretohelplearning.com). She provides a Christian based writing and beginning literature program for homeschool children in grades 1-6. Instruction includes engaging films to help student learning.

"It is on-site, filmed instruction, not someone in front of a whiteboard," Forrest said.

The couple have eight children ranging in ages from 31 to 16 years old. Two live at home; the others live in the US and Germany.

"We have had a warm welcome by everyone here and are looking forward to being a part of this community," Forrest said, "especially this summer when we can explore with our kayaks and maybe catch a silver or two."
