March 16, 2017



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 7 — 9:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had broken an ankle in a fall. 10:45 a.m. A caller reported an abandoned vehicle on SR 4 in the Alger Creek area. 1:40 p.m. An individual was taken into custody for residential burglary after new owners of a Cathlamet home found squatters living there. 2:02 p.m. A caller reported that he had twice seen people with flashlights walking on his neighbors’ Puget Island properties late at night. 4:46 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle in Cathlamet. 5:29 p.m. A Rosedale resident requested assistance after getting locked out of her vehicle. 6:20 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that she was being harassed by a neighbor’s kids who were revving their motors as they were riding past her house on four wheelers. 7:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual with a cut on his neck. 9:12 p.m. A caller reported seeing someone with a flashlight at a Rosedale address where power had been disconnected.

March 8 — 3:35 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that an individual had violated a restraining order. 4:55 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was complaining of dizziness and shortness of breath. 2:23 p.m. An individual was taken into custody on a warrant in Cathlamet. 4:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident. 4:35 p.m. After receiving advice from a doctor, an Elochoman Valley resident reported recurring domestic disturbances, both verbal and physical. 8:11 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop in Cathlamet. 8:43 p.m. A caller reported that a man and woman were fighting outside a Cathlamet home.

March 9 — 5:02 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a man was seen outside a Rosedale business on his hands and knees attempting to wave drivers down. The man said he had been walking since 1 a.m. 8:54 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident who was suffering from dementia. 9:55 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual who was feeling unwell at a Cathlamet school. 11:38 a.m. A caller reported a possible case of child abuse at a Puget Island home. 1:04 p.m. A probation officer met with an individual in Cathlamet who admitted to using methamphetamine. 1:54 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported an aggressive door to door meat salesman. He was asked to leave but would not go. 3:34 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident with high blood pressure. 4:52 p.m. A caller reported a slide on SR 4 just west of Nassa Point.

March 10 — 12:16 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. 10:24 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual with respiratory issues and a numb right arm in the Elochoman Valley. Lifeflight was activated, but recalled when it was unable to land because of fog. 11:08 a.m. A caller reported seeing an elderly woman walking down the middle of an Elochoman Valley road towards town. A deputy responded, but she refused assistance. 11:37 a.m. A caller from a Rosedale address reported that money was being stolen from a safe. 3:40 p.m. Extra patrols were requested in Skamokawa due to a special event. 4:55 p.m. A caller reported that someone was surreptitiously using his phone to record a father and daughter playing soccer in Cathlamet. A deputy spoke with the person, who allowed him to check the history on his phone. No action was taken. 7:09 p.m. A caller reported that he had lost a Clackamas County law enforcement badge. 10:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with chest pain.

March 11 — 1:29 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. A deputy made contact with the homeowner who assured him that it was a false alarm. 2:22 a.m. An individual was taken into custody after a disturbance at a Rosedale home. 6:49 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who was having chest pain. 12:06 p.m. An Elochoman Valley youth requested assistance, reporting that his father was trying to kick him out of the house. 3:52 p.m. A caller reported that a man and woman were fighting in front of a Cathlamet home. A deputy looked for the pair but was unable to locate them. 7:45 p.m. A caller reported a cow in a Puget Island road. Dispatch attempted to contact the owner. 8:04 p.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when several residents in the Elochoman Valley and on Beaver Creek reported a power outage. There were trees down on a power line. The PUD was notified.

March 12 — 9:46 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a couple in Cathlamet. 10:39 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who appeared to have an infection in his leg. 12:06 p.m. A caller reported a dead elk in the Elochoman Valley. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 12:57 p.m. A caller reported that gas had been stolen from a bus in the Elochoman Valley. 5:12 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. Dispatch attempted to contact a responsible party. 7:26 p.m. A caller reported two people who appeared to be trespassing on a neighbor’s property in the Beaver Creek area. 7:35 p.m. A caller reported that juveniles appeared to be attempting to break into boxes outside the Cathlamet library. 9:10 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who may have had a stroke. Lifeflight was en route.

March 13 — 2:24 a.m. An alarm was activated at a business on Puget Island. A deputy found a gate unsecured, but the area was otherwise locked up. The owner said that there was an ongoing problem with the alarm system when he was contacted. 9:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance was refused by an individual who was complaining of nausea and dizziness, though emergency service personnel were prepared to respond when the spouse called for help.
