The Wahkiakum Mules track and field team competed in two meets this past week.

On April 19, the team traveled to Napavine to compete against seven other schools in a Central 2B meet. The Mules earned 28 points and tied for seventh place in boys’ competition and took fourth place with 107.5 points in girls’ competition.

Freshman K.C. Beery took third in the 800 and improved his personal record with a time of 2:21.54. He also took third in the triple jump, clearing 33-03.

Sophomore Seth Kuljis placed fourth in the 3200 with a time of 15:17.30.

Junior Steven Yu finished the 110 meter hurdles in 24.12 and took fourth place.

The 4x400 relay team of Yu, Earth Sakworawich, Kuljis, and Beery took fifth place with a time of 4:44.60.

Sophomore Macie Elliott won the 400 meters with a new personal record of 1:03.64.

Senior Cheyenne Barton took second place in the 200 meters with a time of 29.77.

Sophomore Ellie Leitz won the 800 meters with a time of 2:46.89. She also took second in the triple jump with a distance of 29-09.

Junior Grayci Thomas placed third in the 800 with a time of 2:53.80.

Sophomore Trinity Klecker took second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.73. She finished the 300 meter hurdles in 1:00.43 and took fourth place.

The 4x100 relay team of Barton, Mckensi Fluckiger, Destiny McGowan, and Elliott took second place with a time of 55.42. The 4x200 relay team of Barton, Charlie Ashe, Thomas, and Elliott took second place with a time of 2:00.83. Barton, Ashe, Leitz, and Elliott won the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:46.23.

Senior Rayanna Carlon took sixth place in both the shot put and the discus with distances of 24-05 and 65-07, respectively.

Ashe took second place in the high jump, clearing 4-06.

Fluckiger took fourth place in the long jump and third place in the triple jump with distances of 13-11 and 28-06, respectively.

On April 25, the Mules traveled to Adna to compete against eight other teams in the Pirate Classic. The Mules took third place with 83 points in girls’ competition, and eighth place in boy’s competition with 15 points.

McGowan finished in fourth place in the 100 meters with a time of 15.03.

Barton won the 200 meters with a time of 29.52.

Leitz got her second win in the 800 meters in a week with a time of 2:38.97. She also placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 29-09.
