Down River Dispatches

Greetings everyone from hot and sunny California. It’s already 96 degrees and only noon. Thank God for air conditioning. This weather is only one reminder of the reasons we left here for our little piece of heaven in Grays River.

That said, it’s wonderful to spend some time with the kids and grandkids here.

News from Naselle

The Naselle Track team is headed to Cheny for the State Championship playoffs. Great job team, let’s go Comets! Best of luck.

Open Gym will be available on Sundays 6-9 p.m. and Mondays through Thursdays 7-9 p.m.

Memorial Day is being celebrated on Monday so students will enjoy a three day weekend and return to classes on Tuesday.

The next blood drive will again be held in the Valley Bible Church social hall with appointments now available and just waiting for your call on June 14, 12:30-6 p.m. The church is located at 4723 SR 4 West in Rosburg. Appointments are also available online on the Red Cross site.

Don’t forget that April Zimmerman provides delicious sliders and a treat for donating, and believe me, they are always delicious.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets each week in the Rosburg Hall for a delicious home cooked meal prepared and served by Pat Potter and her volunteer crew.

On Thursdays a senior meal is also served at the above location and is sponsored by CAP. Lunch is served at noon for both venues.

Happy Birthday to Darian Jacot, Linda Cary, Bryan Penttila, Kaisa Saari and Oscar Penttila. Wishing you a perfect day.

Happy Anniversary to Billy and Lois Bighill.

Memorial Day means a great deal to most of us, giving us a specific day to reflect on what our freedoms were built on and who protects and has protected them for us. Our men and women in the military willingly serve our country and some have, do and will give, the ultimate sacrifice of their own life for the rest of us to be free. Take this time to say thank you to those you have known and to those you may see on the street daily.

Thank you for my freedom, and God be with each of the many men and women in uniform. Keep them from harm.
