Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 5 — 1:44 p.m. A caller reported an illegally parked car on a Cathlamet street. 6:14 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a domestic disturbance at a Cathlamet home.

June 6 — 3:51 a.m. The county road department cleared a tree that had fallen on Messinger Hill Road. 9:52 a.m. A representative from the mental health department requested assistance with a client; a deputy responded. 10:21 a.m. A Cape Horn resident was having trouble breathing and complained of chest pain; the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 4:15 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a home near Naselle. A unit from Pacific County took over. 4:29 p.m. An unoccupied car was found in a ditch on Puget Island; state patrol responded. The owner contacted the sheriff’s office. 6:08 p.m. A caller reported an inebriated pedestrian in the Rosedale area. 6:32 p.m. A caller reported that he had been contacted by a juvenile who sounded like she was in some kind of trouble. 8:21 p.m. Cows were loose on a Puget Island road.

June 7 — 5:16 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 10:17 a.m. A fisherman returned to discover that his vehicle had been hit while parked in the Cathlamet marina parking lot. A deputy investigated and found evidence that it had been struck by a trailer parked nearby. 4:26 p.m. The Grays River ambulance provided a lift assist to a Deep River resident who had fallen. 4:54 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a woman and child walking away from an old vehicle parked on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 5:14 p.m. A caller reported that a passenger ship appeared to have run aground near Cape Horn. A representative from the Coast Guard said the ship had lost an engine and was floating to deeper water. 5:46 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at a Rosedale business. 6:43 p.m. A brush fire was reported in Cathlamet. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded and put the fire out.

June 8 — 1:24 a.m. A caller reported that a couple had pulled into the parking lot of a Rosedale business and were fighting. The man appeared to be intoxicated. Several deputies responded and an individual was taken into custody. 1:57 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of a brush fire in Cathlamet. 2:06 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having a seizure. 3:50 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having heart trouble. 5:03 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having a seizure. 6:21 a.m. The sheriff’s office provided a ship escort. 8:58 a.m. A Cathlamet resident asked for a deputy to stand by while she removed her belongings from a Cathlamet home. 9:26 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Rosedale resident. 12:17 p.m. A caller reported a possibly drunk driver heading west on SR 4 near County Line Park. 12:56 p.m. A Cowlitz County agency asked for assistance locating an individual who may have been involved in a hit and run accident. 3:56 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that a neighbor’s dog had attacked one of his animals. The caller was unwilling to provide a written statement, but the deputy advised the neighbor that his dog would need to be quarantined. 10:09 p.m. An intoxicated man was found unconscious in the back of a truck parked in the Deep River area.

June 9 — 9:54 a.m. A representative from Adult Protective Services requested assistance. 1:10 p.m. A welfare check was requested for children living in an Elochoman Valley home. 1:11 p.m. A welfare check was requested for children living in a Rosedale home. 1:41 p.m. A caller was concerned about two large trucks parked too close to a Puget Island road. A deputy investigated and determined that they were parked legally. 2:27 p.m. A parent called, concerned that a child was being abused while in the other parent’s custody. 5:12 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in an accident on KM, with an injury reported. A deputy, the Skamokawa Fire Department, the Cathlamet ambulance, and the Grays River ambulance responded. 9:02 p.m. A caller reported seeing a horse on an Elochoman Valley road. The owner was not known. 10:01 p.m. A caller reported that cows were loose on Puget Island. The owner was contacted. 11:21 p.m. A caller was concerned that an ex-boyfriend was suicidal and requested a welfare check. A representative from the mental health department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded.

June 10 — 11:14 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that his travel trailer had been stolen. 3:54 p.m. A caller complained that several vehicles and trailers were blocking a Deep River road. 4:32 p.m. A caller reported a drunk driver in the Deep River area. The individual was taken into custody. 5:55 p.m. A caller complained that two trailers and a backhoe parked nearby were obstructing his view on Puget Island. 8:57 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an Alger Creek resident. 11:21 p.m. A caller reported that she was being harassed by two men who were intoxicated and would not leave. Deputies responded. Both suspects were tasered and taken into custody. State patrol was notified and the Cathlamet ambulance was requested due to possible alcohol poisoning.

June 11 — 2:21 p.m. A concerned caller reported two dead birds in the Cathlamet area. 2:34 p.m. A caller who suspected abuse requested a welfare check on a child. 3:18 p.m. A caller reported that a dog had been found. It was later returned to its owner.
