Sheriff's Report, July 20, 2017

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 10 - 10:11 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a license plate had been stolen from his car. 10:17 a.m. A caller was concerned about two people chasing a dog on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 12:03 pm. A Cathlamet resident asked for assistance after getting locked out of her car. 3:03 p.m. A caller reported that a dog was limping after being struck by a vehicle at a Rosedale business. 8:22 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had a cut on her hand. 8:29 p.m. The Wahkiakum Sheriff's Office was asked to be on the lookout for a missing person. 9:06 p.m. A caller reported that false reports had been given to Child Protective Services.


July 11 - 10:37 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual in Cathlamet who had abdominal pain. 11:02 a.m. A caller reported that a canoe had floated away from a boat ramp in Skamokawa. 11:32 a.m. A caller reported that a subject had failed to show up for a court date after posting bail. 11:35 a.m. After discovering that water pressure was low at a Flandersville home, the owner checked the pump house and found that the meter had been removed from the wall and the brass fittings had been taken from it. The water tank had been emptied as well. 6:44 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 10:19 p.m. A caller asked the sheriff's office to be on the lookout for a person who had not been in contact for several days.


July 12 - 4:16 p.m. A caller was concerned about a kayaker who did not return when she said she would. The caller called back later to say the kayaker had returned and was fine. 6:05 p.m. A caller reported a violation of a restraining order. A deputy investigated and determined that there had been no violation.

July 13 - 12:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing individual in Cathlamet. 2:26 p.m. A caller reported that a car nearly struck another vehicle while swerving on the Puget Island bridge. 6:24 p.m. A caller reported a loose horse running down an Elochoman Valley road. 9:09 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a depressed person.


July 14 - 12:17 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a man had knocked on his daughter's window and shone a flashlight inside. When confronted, he said he was lost. At 12:24 a.m., another call came from a home nearby. The caller said that a man had shone a flashlight in through a window, and this time when the man was confronted, he said he was looking for his friend's home. He was located by deputies and taken into custody. 6:06 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. 8:22 a.m. A caller reported an erratic and reckless driver on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 11:07 a.m. A caller reported that someone had burgled his storage unit on Puget Island. 12:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an unconscious Rosedale resident. 2:39 p.m. A Skamokawa resident complained that she was being harassed by a telemarketer. 4:27 p.m. A caller reported that several items had been stolen from his car while it was parked at a Rosedale business. He called the next day to say he had found the items; they had not been stolen. 9:48 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported a suspicious door-to-door salesperson selling beef. The resident thought it was suspicious due to the late hour. 11:25 p.m. A caller reported that a ship had run aground on Puget Island. The Coast Guard was notified.

July 15 - 12:52 a.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver on a Puget Island road. 9:46 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported an unknown vehicle parked in his yard. The sheriff's office attempted to contact the owner. 10:04 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a Cathlamet resident who had not been heard from in over a week. 11:03 a.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been stolen from an Alger Creek home. 12:36 p.m. A Cathlamet resident complained that someone had parked a vehicle in his yard. 2:26 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with kidney failure. 2:54 p.m. A caller reported a speeding motorcyclist on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 7:31 p.m. An individual with a warrant was taken into custody on Beaver Creek Road. 11:01 p.m. After a neighbor complained, a deputy spoke to a Rosedale resident who was playing loud music. 11:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with possible alcohol poisoning.


July 16 - 2:40 a.m. A caller reported a strange light on the Columbia River. 2:53 a.m. A caller complained about a neighbor who was still playing loud music despite the late hour in Rosedale. 6:19 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. 6:37 a.m. A caller reported an inebriated man walking down the middle of the Puget Island bridge. A deputy gave the man a ride home. 11:57 a.m. Deputies and the Cathlamet Fire Department responded to a car fire on SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 4:38 p.m. A caller reported seeing an unoccupied kite surfing kite and board near the south end of Puget Island. A deputy investigated but did not find the equipment. 4:42 p.m. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a motorcyclist went into a ditch just east of Cathlamet. The individual had several injuries and was transported by Life Flight to the hospital.
