School board OK's budget in Tuesday session

The Wahkiakum School District Board of Directors reconvened on Tuesday to approve the budget for the 2017-2018 school year.

The district is expected to receive $6,358,609 in projected revenues. The funds come from three sources. The first is from the state and is based on enrollment. It accounts for approximately 78 percent of the revenue, according Superintendent Bob Garrett. The second accounts for 16 percent and comes from local dollars and the third is from the federal government.

That, along with reserves, will cover the budget for the 2017-2018 school year.

The board approved projected expenditures of $6,687,949 in the general fund, $105,800 in the ASB fund, $276,640 in the debt service fund, $20,000 in the capital projects fund, and $130,000 in the transportation vehicle fund.
